Do I need a full tummy tuck or a fleur de lis? (Photo)

You are not alone.  Lots of my patients tell me how much this sort of thing affects them.  I believe from looking at your photographs that a standard abdominoplasty and liposuction would work well.  I tend to avoid fleur-de-lys abdominoplasties wherever possible because the scarring is not great and the complication rate is high.  It is almost certain that you will need a muscle tightening procedure too.  It's important whilst you are saving to maintain your weight loss and improve you core strength as much as you can.

Looking at your photos and considering your history of weight loss and childbirth, I believe you are a great candidate for a Fleur-de-Lys abdominoplasty. The reason for that is you seem to have excess skin both in horizontal and vertical directions therefore a normal tummy tuck can not give you the best shape.A Fleur-de-Lys abdominoplasty will help to remove the excess skin in both directions and narrow your waistline. Thanks for your question and sharing the photographs. From the review of pictures you should get a good result from a full tummy tuck with liposuction .You will need the muscle repair . A fleur de lys abdominoplasty fives a midline scar and it is not liked by many patients and surgeon. Please see a plastic surgeon to discuss the procedure and expected outcome.

based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a TT. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. You are a great candidate for a full tummy tuck with liposuction of the flanks to improve contour. During this procedure, which is done with a very low incision below your bikini line, any muscle diastasis that is present can be repaired as well.

Based on your photographs and skin laxity, you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction.  You do not need the vertical incision of a fleur de lis.  This can be done through a low incision, all completely below the bikini line.  The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on the exterior.   Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  It appears that an extended tummy tuck may provide you the best result, especially as the FDL requires that vertical incision.  Best to have an in-person discussion as to your goals so as to provide you the best treatment advice. 

I appreciate your concern and frustration and your issues are very common after childbirth, especially with large babies. While you are saving up for tummy tuck surgery, you may consider adopting a reasonable diet and exercise program to tone muscle and lower and maintain a BMI of 30 or less. This course of action will greatly increase your final result after surgery. Good luck.

Hello! You are not alone many women are unable to recoup their pre pregnancy body. Sometimes there is no amount of exercise that can get rid of stubborn fat and loose skin. Since you will be considering this in a few years I recommend being at a stable weight. Your BMI should be under 30 before being considered a candidate for cosmetic surgery.
