I've lost 110 lbs but have loose skin that hangs below my pelvic bone. There are areas on my stomach that appear to be larger or bulkier than other areas. I'm guessing these may be fat deposits. I'm just wondering if a tummy tuck will be enough or if I will need to have lipo and the tummy tuck together.
Answer: Tummy tuck The typical abdominoplasty remove ms extra skin and lower abdominal fat by direct removal and additional liposuction can be done of the other areas of the flanks and torso at the same time if done appropriately. The muscles inside can be tightened. Typically all of the skin between the bellybutton and the pubic bone all the skin between the ribs in the bellybutton is pulled down to smooth everything out. The bellybutton is pulled through in it's normal location. There are variables and many many versions of tummy tucks that are customized to each individual patient and their needs

Answer: Weight loss In patients with significant weight loss, the skin excess is the main problem to correct. There is not sufficient subcutaneous fat left behind to warrant liposuction in most of these cases.

Answer: Is fat removed during a tummy tuck, or is only skin removed? During a tummy tuck, a combination of excess fat and skin is removed. This is also frequently performed in conjunction with liposuction. Best of luck!

Answer: Is fat removed during a tummy tuck, or is only skin removed? Thanks for your question. Tummy tuck surgery involves removing not only skin, but also the fatty tissue deep to the skin being excised. You would need to have a proper assessment to determine whether liposuction would be safe and effective at removing additional fat during the same operation.

Answer: In 90% of patients, liposuction is done at the same time as a tummy tuck for maximum patient satisfaction When you describe your skin as hanging below your pelvic bone, there is no doubt that you need a tummy tuck. Almost always, I perform liposuction simultaneously to treat unwanted fat that is not removed with the skin. Typically these areas are the upper abdomen, pubic area, and flanks (love handles). Liposuction also helps avoid the muffin top deformity. Liposuction and abdominoplasty can be done together by experienced plastic surgeons, saving a second operation. There are plenty of examples on my website. Patient satisfaction after the combined procedure is higher than after either procedure alone. I've attached a link to this section of my website in case you wish to read more.

Answer: Tummy tuck after massive weight loss Congrats on the massive weight loss. A consultation would help determine the details of the tummy tuck procedure. In general, fat is removed with the overlying skin. After massive weight loss, I spend a lot of time with the patient examining their areas of concern and describing variations of the appropriate procedures (e.g. tummy tuck vs lower body lift) that will help them achieve their goals and explaining the trade-offs between skin excision and length/location of the incisions. I would recommend visiting with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area who does a lot of body contouring as part of their practice.
