Am I crazy to want my saline implants back after replacing them with silicone implants 3 months ago?

Question

I had high profile round saline implants filled to 430ccs for 12 years. Due to loss of breast tissue, rippling and some indention mid breast, I decided to replace them and went with round silicone 505ccs. I am 3 months post op. The problem is I hate the feel of the silicone. I feel that I lost some of my projection and I miss the firmness of the saline. Why do I not love my new silicone implants? I want my saline back! My surgeon agrees it is firmness I miss but says I am the first!

If you preferred the saline implants, then you can go back to them understanding that rippling will return. Talk to your surgeon to find out when you can proceed.

I would agree with your surgeon that this is unusual.  The decision is yours. He certainly can go back to saline implants which will give you firmness but will show every wrinkle underneath your skin you have to except that trade all.

No, you are absolutely NOT crazy.  Although it is true that most patients switch from saline to silicone, as opposed to the other way around, I have had many patients who prefer the feel/look achieved with saline breast implants. Just yesterday, I removed a patient's silicone gel breast implants and replaced them with saline breast implants;  the patient's goals were to achieve a firm “round, fake look”.  I would suggest that you carefully consider the pros/cons associated with each breast implant and communicate your concerns/questions with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes.

Saline implants are generally more projective and as you say more firm.  However, they are more likely to ripple and show contour problems through the breast skin.  Another potential option would be a cohesive gel anatomic "gummy bear" implant which is firmer and less likely to show contour problems through the skin.  You may ask your plastic surgeon if that might be a good fit.

It doesn't sound like you are crazy, you just miss what you had. Most likely, if you wait a few more months you will get used to your new softer breasts. Don't rush to more surgery yet!
