If a patient needed a skin graft of the abdomen after their original surgery, it means that there was a wound healing issue that lead to a loss of tissue. The reasons for that can vary, but all imply that there was a healing issue. In some patients, it is possible to advance the abdominal tissue more and cover the old skin graft area. However, it would just depend on if you have any excess abdominal tissue still, how large the area was, and how long it has been since your original surgery. I would discuss all these things with your surgeon.
Hopefully the skin graft can be removed and the edges of normal skin brought together. Please see an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who can better advise you.
tummy tuck on an abdomen with a skin graftsome more detail is needed. what was the graft for ? was this a previous abdominoplasty?there are a number of ways to gain extra skin to remove the graft including serial excision and tissue expanders or just stretching the skin if there is enough
It depends on the size and location of the skin graft and why you had to have the skin graft placed in the first place. If you have a small lower abdominal skin graft in place....then once your tissues heal and relax...you should be able to undergo another TT with readvancement of the abdominal flap, excision of the skin graft, and closure. Pictures and the exact reason you required the skin graft would be helpful in giving a more detailed answer. Thanks
Possibly give me a skin graft. Depends on the location of the skin graft and the size of the skin graft. A picture would be good for this forum or in-person consultation would be most helpful
Without pics and a more detailed history it would be hard to say. Did you have a prior tummy tuck and resulting wound infection that then required a skin graft? It would be possible but it depends on where the skin graft is and also how much skin laxity you have to cover the area that is now there with the skin graft. Please see a plastic surgeon who can examine you and see what your best options are.
If you like the feel of the compression garment, then you should wear it. I don't believe it will ultimately change the results. I do think that local scar control strategies like tape or silicone sheeting would be helpful.
The surgeon may be able to remove the stretch marks under your belly button, but it will still depend on whether the skin below your belly button can be cut off. It may be possible that some stretch marks still remain after the procedure. It is best that you consult a surgeon so he can give you a...
A minor or mild degree of excess skin at the end of tummy tuck incision or scar are referred as "dog ears". Depending on the amount of skin and fat that has to be removed, the problem can easily corrected by excising the excess skin and fat under local or general anesthesia. Best of luck.
