I want to get cankle and knee lipo in a few weeks but 4 weeks after surgery I have an event I need to fly to and wear high heels at. I feel like a dress is out of the question but does wearing high heels for a full day/night seem possible or totally crazy?
Answer: Recovery You will likely have some swelling remaining at four weeks post op. Add in wearing high heels for a prolonged time and you will likely swell even more and be uncomfortable. You may want to postpone surgery until after your event.

Answer: Surgery You will still have swelling in those areas and will need to still wear support hoes for the event. It does take quite some time for the swelling to subside in those areas.

Answer: 4 weeks before event Wait until after your event. Swelling after surgery lasts a long time but even longer in the lower extremities so I don't think you will be able to wear high heels 4 weeks after surgery and then after being on your feet for the whole even your calves and feet will be very painful. Watch this video on swelling linked below. Do not underestimate swelling.

Answer: Wearing Heels 4 Weeks After Ankle and Knee Liposuction Hi there and thank you for your question regarding wearing heels 4 weeks after ankle liposuction. It's important to note that every individual's healing process is different, and recovery time can vary. However, generally speaking, it might be too soon to wear high heels for a full day and night just four weeks after cankle and knee liposuction. In the initial weeks following liposuction, it's crucial to allow your body adequate time to heal and recover. Swelling and discomfort are common during this period, and wearing high heels could exacerbate these issues. High heels can place additional strain on your lower legs and knees, potentially hindering the healing process or causing unnecessary discomfort. In this situation, I would recommend discussing your plans with your plastic surgeon during your consultation. They will be able to provide more personalized advice based on your specific circumstances, medical history, and the extent of the liposuction being performed. It's always best to prioritize your health and follow your surgeon's post-operative care instructions to ensure a smooth and successful recovery. If wearing high heels at the event is absolutely necessary, consider discussing this with your surgeon beforehand to explore any possible accommodations or alternatives that may allow you to attend the event comfortably and safely. I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Recovery after leg liposuction Lower extremity liposuction below the knee i.e. calf and ankles is a technically difficult procedure and a difficult procedure to recover from. I typically only do those areas on patients who have severe fat distribution. The recovery is much longer and harder than Liposuction of other parts of the body. Are usually tell patients to expect recovery to take three times longer than liposuction of other parts of the body. Most patients have some thing resembling normal results by about six weeks after surgery and final results take about three months. liposuction of the calves and ankles can require leg elevations to control swelling for many months after the procedure. Some patients are unable to wear certain shoes for many months after surgery. There are a lot of variables, and there is no simple yes or no answer to your question. A lot depends on how the procedure is done, how much fat is removed, how aggressive the surgeon is, etc. etc. Likewise she of the patient and if there’s any baseline edema will also Have a big impact. These are technically difficult to do procedures, and patients should be extremely selective about using a provider who has sufficient experience doing liposuction in this part of the body. This means having multiple in person consultations at which time you should ask providers to open up their portfolio and show you enough before and after pictures to get a clear understanding of what average results look like and how many of these procedures any one surgeon has done. Doing liposuction in other parts of the body does not mean somebody is going to handle lower extremity Liposuction well from both the doctors and patients perspective. I would not count on being able to wear high heels shows four weeks after the procedure, but that may work for some individuals. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of being extremely selective and choosing providers for this type of surgery Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
