Can Bellafill works on every scar type?

Thanks for sharing.  Bellafill is FDA approved for acne scars.  However there are different type of acne scars and its is indicated for "distensible" acne scars.  If you can gently stretch the skin with your fingers around the acne scar and it looks better then the results will be better.  Other traumatic scars that are distensible would likely improve as well. 

Bellafill is FDA approved to treat atrophic, distensible acne scars on the face. These are depressed scars that can disappear if manually stretched. Bellafill does not actually remove or fade scars; it works by lifting the scar, making it even with the rest of the surrounding skin. For raised scars or deeper acne scars such as icepick or boxcar scars, a different treatment would work better. 

Bellafill can work on raising depressed scars but won't get rid of all scars such as raised or keloid scars. A combination of lasers is needed for other facial scars. Best, Dr. Green

Bellafill will work for scars that are depressed, needing volume. It is approved for rolling acne scars. It won't work for raised, white scars, or atrophic scars.

Bellafill is FDA approved for acne scars but the scars need
to be soft. What this means is that the
scar cannot be tethered down to the underlying tissue. In general, relatively fresh acne scars
(scars that have occurred within the last year), ice pick scars and scars that
are deeply pitted do not respond as well as the softer boxcar like scars. In fact, the clinical trials were all done on
soft boxcar scars.



One thing to remember about Bellafill as a treatment for
scars is that the goal is to flatten the scar so that there is no shadow. The color of the skin will not improve.
