I am considering a rhinoplasty in istanbul since I've heard and red that they have very good rhinoplasty specialist (dr emre ilhan, dr.Abdülkadir Göksel, Barış Çakır),. On instagram I see many photo's, but can I trust their work? They mostly use ultrasonic Rhinoplasty, not widely used in the US. What are long term results with this technique. (
Answer: Rhinoplasty in Istanbul There are any number of very good rhinoplasty surgeons in Istanbul. If you mean by ultrasound the diamond technique then it is good and especially for significant congenital nose deformities. It has a significant learning curve. One good surgeon in London who uses it is Charles East. All in all you are best doing your surgery close to home for the benefit of close post-operative follow-up.

Currently there are only fewer than 10 surgeons in North America who perform Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty. It is a technology only recently FDA approved for use in the United States. West of the Mississippi, other than myself, there are only 2 other surgeons I know of that use the device. The US performs the most rhinoplasty surgeries of any country on Earth, however Iran and Turkey have a specific focus on rhinoplasty over other traditional procedures like breast augmentation, liposuction, and tummy tucks. Their surgeons are very skilled but quality control is much harder to ensure, and many of their rhinoplasty surgeons aren't even plastic or facial plastic surgeons. Additionally, if there are any complications, it will be hard for most patients to fly back and forth to deal with them. Any savings you might have enjoyed will disappear very quickly!I have an advanced rhinoplasty practice in Denver, Colorado and use the Comeg Medical Piezotome M+ device. It is the only device in the world with ultrasonic tips designed specifically for rhinoplasty. I'd be happy to Skype/Facetime with you to talk more about it. Answer: Rhinoplasty in other countries? You live in the rhinoplasty capital if the world and you are thinking about going to another country???Why would u do that and what if there is a problem? Are you going to go back and forth? There is a reason this technique is not used here. Let the buyer beware!

Look at your prospective surgeon's before and after photo gallery which should be extensive and reflective of their dedication to the discipline of nasal surgery. Traveling to a third world country is not advisable. When traveling for rhinoplasty, the follow- up appointments are just as important as the surgery itself to manage the soft-tissue envelope over the cartilaginous framework of the nose, so plan on returning at least 2 to 3 times with your surgeon for follow-up.
