Hello,Many different reasons can cause uneven nostrils. One common reason is swelling after a rhinoplasty. I recommend you reaching out to your board certified facial plastic surgeon for a post-op consultation. All the best,Deepak Dugar, MDScarless Rhinoplasty ExpertBeverly Hills, CA 90210
It is difficult to answer the question based on limited information, nostril asymmetry could be due to various reasons, some of them related to nostril itself and some of the due to asymmetric nose or septal deviation.
Without further information, it is impossible to answer this question. When was your surgery, what approach was utilized, what extent of surgery did you have, what was your pre-OP appearance of the nostrils, etc.? Only your surgeon has the answers to some of these questions. You should definitely follow-up with your surgeon as the nasal appearance and healing can be influenced even after surgery through compression exercises, steroid injections, taping, etc. However, don't do anything to your nose unless specifically instructed by your surgeon. Nostril asymmetry after surgery can be temporary from asymmetric swelling, or permanent from asymmetric positioning of cartilage grafts or of the nasal tip cartilages. Hope that helps. Best wishes!
Im not sure what type of surgery was performed, nor do I know what your nostrils looked like before. They do seem to be uneven, but soon after rhinoplasty, it is common to see uneven nostrils for a little while.Make sure that this is brought up to your surgeon when you next see him.All the best.
It would be interesting to see your pre op photos to see if there was something there that would have predisposed you to this outcome. If there was nothing on preop then the most common causes of this are placing the incision along the edge of the cartilage is different on one side, asymmetrical resection of the lower lateral cartilage, misplaced suturing of the cartilage, asymmetrical healing/scaring, incisional closure different on either side.
Thank you for the question! Unfortunately, it's impossible to fully evaluate your situation without an in-person exam. It would also help to know when exactly you had your rhinoplasty done. You could still be experiencing post-op swelling which may take from 6 months up to a year to resolve completely. It would explain your uneven nostrils. Until your swelling resolves, you will not be able to see your final results. An in-person exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon would be the best way to assess your needs and obtain a reliable medical advice. Best of luck!
Asymmetric nostrils after a rhinoplasty can be from asymmetric swelling or the result of the lower lateral cartilages being in asymmetrical positions. The swelling will resolve over 3 months but the cartilage position will not change. See your surgeon for follow up. Good luck.
Hi,There is always some asymmetry of the nostrils even before the surgery so asymmetry after the surgery can become more noticeable. Crooked nostrils are very difficult to fix. Some asymmetry is normal but to try and get them perfect you can run into problems It is very difficult to correct nostril asymmetries and would be cautious when considering a revision not to make the asymmetry worse.Best,Dr. S
If you are just sitting and listening to music, I don't see the harm. If you're nose is in harm's way during the concert, then I don't see how you could. Speak with your own surgeon for sure.
There are various ways to repair an over resected dorsal hump, by putting something on top of the dorsum. Just depends how much needs to be added back. Cartilage, rib grafts, calvarian split grafts, or other fabricated implants.
Hi, Based on your photos, you seem to have a deviated nasal bridge and a bulbous tip. Depending on the reason for your bulbous tip- surgery may require defatting the tip, cartilage grafting, and/or reshaping, this will reduce the width and bulbosity of your nose. The bridge of your nose can be...
