It's been 5 months since my surgery and recently my nose has been looking bigger than say a week ago. It's annoying me heaps because i don't understand how the shape can change so much 5 months after, I thought the top would only get smaller, not the bone and tip getting bigger. Why is this happening?
Answer: Nose sometimes bigger Dear jelena123,you might still have some swelling after rhinoplasty. Without an examination it is really hard to tell. If you are concerned, I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Swelling five months out During the healing process there is an increase in the amount of vascular supply to the surgical bed. This provides more blood flow to the area to bring the goods it needs to heal things. Unfortunately, the outflow of blood can be impaired by any scar tissue that has developed and this can take a lot longer than you would expect to resolve itself. There isn't a lot you can do about this other than sleep propped up all night.

Answer: Nose shape changes 5 months after rhinoplasty It is part of the normal healing process for the nose to change shape from day to day and even within one day as the nose continues to heal after surgery. This is due to swelling that can be more visible in the morning, or for other reasons related to your diet, exercise, sleeping position, etc. As the nose continues to settle over the next 4-6 months the amount of changes you will see on a day to day basis will decrease.

Answer: Swelling 5 Months After Rhinoplasty Thank you for your question. Residual swelling, especially in the tip of the nose, can take about a year to resolve as the contour refines. Swelling can also vary through the day, being more prominent in the morning. If you are concerned I would follow up with the surgeon who performed the surgery.
