Breathlessness 2 weeks post after breast augmentation, is this due to the implant weight?

Thank you for your question.  Muscle tightness and weight of implants can attribute to labored breathing.  That being said, shortness of breath and dizziness should definitely be evaluated by your plastic surgeon.  Good luck.

This could be due to blood loss during your operation. I would recommend getting a blood count or blood test if possible to see if you're anaemic. It's important that you follow up with your surgeon asap in case there is a more serious underlying issue here.

Although this may be nothing, it may be something serious and should be evaluated.  A chest x-ray, chest CT blood oxygen levels and maybe an ultrasound of your lower extremities would exclude the serious problems.

that is unusual after a breast argumentation. It may be something that your mind has to adjust to, but your surgeon should be made aware as it could also be something much more medically severe and should be evaluated. 

Thank you for your question.  It's possible that the swelling and pressure of the implants might have an effect, but what your are describing is uncommon.  More of a concern would be possible blood clots after surgery that have migrated to your lungs.  This can be extremely serious, so I would suggest you contact your surgeon or family doctor ASAP.

It could be the pressure over your torax, however I strongly suggest you visit your surgeon for a proper evaluation. 

This is not a typical postop complaint. You should call you surgeon immediately and discuss this and be evaluated ASAP to rule out any serious complication. 

Pain on deep inspiration and shortness of breath are unusual symptoms following a breast augmentation even when placed beneath the pectoralis muscle. I would suggest your returning to you surgeon for  an evaluation.Michael Eisemann M.D.Plastic SurgeonHouston Texas
