Hello! I have saline breast implants. a week ago I got dry needling done at the chiropractor. She inserted the needles in my lat and arm pit area. After I left I started thinking she was very close to my breast but I couldn’t see exactly where they were placed. Is it possible for a needle that small to hit my implant and puncture it? I haven’t noticed any big changes in my breasts, I’m just worried.

Answer: Dry needling No, the needles typically used are very tiny and will not puncture you implant which is behind your breast tissue.

Answer: Dry needling Dry needling usually usually goes to a depth of 5mm-10mm (one half to one cm deep). The implants in smaller breasted (natural tissue) are certainly within this distance. Of course, if the needle is inserted along the lateral or inferior border of your breast ( where the implant is most superficial in a submuscular placement) then yes, it would be at the greatest risk of puncture. If you do not notice a size/volume change in your breasts within a day or two post treatment, you’re probably fine. Let your chiropractor know to avoid your implants. Best wishes Dr. Taranow
