Is it safe to get dermal fillers while breastfeeding?

I got dermal fillers today without really thinking about it. I am breastfeeding my 2 month old and I am now petrified that I might harm her. Should i dissolve the fillers in order to continue breastfeeding?

I appreciate your concern. Dermal fillers contain a very small amount of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine that would not negatively affect your baby while you are breast-feeding. Of course, it is important to discuss the potential risks and benefits of each procedure with your doctor!

I appreciate your concern, but I assure you the one treatment you had should be completely safe for your baby. I never recommend elective treatments to women that are pregnant or breastfeeding as a general rule, since the benefits do not tend to outweigh the risks. However, the small amount of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine you received during your procedure should not significantly impact your breast milk. I would recommend waiting for any further treatments until after you are finished nursing, however, just to be on the safe side.

Typically it’s recommended that you don’t get dermal fillers while pregnant or breastfeeding as the effects are unknown. That said, the mounts of lidocaine and dermal filler product are minimal so it shouldn’t greatly affect your breast milk. But if you still have concerns I recommend that you speak to your doctor.

I appreciate your concern. If you had a hyaluronic acid filler, both you and your baby should be absolutely fine. As a general rule, I do not recommend getting any elective procedures while you are pregnant or nursing, since the benefits do not tend to outweigh the risks. However, in your case, there should be no adverse effects from your treatment. I would wait for additional procedures until you are finished breastfeeding, just to be on the safe side.

Yes - hyaluronic acid fillers are safe to during breastfeeding and even pregnancy.   
There is lidocaine mixed with the product and it is only a small amount.   Dentists routinely perform dental procedures using lidocaine in pregnancy and breast feeding.
Please note:   Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

It is generally recommended to avoid filler treatments while pregnant or breastfeeding.  The reason is the lack of studies to prove that it is safe.  Since you have already had the treatment chances are that everything should be just fine.  However if it is always best to discuss it with your doctor.

Although the effects of dermal fillers on breastfeeding have not been studied, most physicians would agree that as the filler goes directly into the dermal tissue it should not affect breastfeeding or harm the baby in any way.

Thank you for the question.  I understand your concern.  It is safe to get an HA filler even if it has lidocaine mixed in it because the amount is small.  Botox Cosmetic is not recommended to be utilized during pregnancy or breastfeeding.  Hope my answer helps you.

Typically, you should not receive fillers while breastfeeding. This is because little information exists on the "safety" in breastfeeding mothers in order to advertise and administer it. That being said, in your case it should not harm you or your baby in any way. The amount of lidocaine in the injection is minimal and even less will transfer to your breast milk. If you continue to worry, I would suggest "pumping and dumping" your first few milk productions. I hope this helps!
