I'm a 70 yr old woman. Is that too old to be having juvederm injectIons?

Also I have recently been hospitalized for an inflamed colon and had to have some powerful intravenous antibiotics. Will that affect the outcome of Juvederm injections? Thank you.

Your age will not preclude you from having fillers.  There are many 70 year olds who may not want or need surgery but have some lines or hollowing that can be helped with fillers.  Some people however will have so much volume loss at 70 that a tube or two of filler may not be noticeable.  In these cases you may be better off doing some sort of a surgery.  Get a couple of opinions.  The antibiotics will not affect the outcome

When assessing a patient as a candidate for Juvederm an experienced injector will evaluate the face regardless of age. Schedule a consult with a Dr or expert injector to obtain their recommendations. Also, the Dr will discuss a full health history to ensure Juvederm is the right product for you.

You are certainly not too old to undergo treatment with fillers.  In order to achieve best outcomes, you may well require placement of certain products deeper in your face to replace volume that has been lost over time as well as more superficially placed fillers to treat wrinkles and lines.  Some patients choose to undergo treatment is phases so as to avoid a more dramatic change in appearance whereas others prefer to have full correction at their initial treatment session.

current systemic infection you are fine getting the juvederm even while on
antibiotics.

Hello Truly its me, Thanks for the question.  I have injected several patients well into their 70's who wanted to treat targeted areas with filler. I think you need to have reasonable expectations as often there are more lines than can be addressed with a single syringe of filler. I would schedule a consultation with a facial plastic surgeon who can guide you in the right choice of material based on the areas that are most bothersome for you.  Some choice such as voluma have been great for my patients to lift the cheeks and highlight the cheek bones, and it lasts for two years.Good luck!Dr. Shadfar

Be prepared to use several syringes. To see a noticeable difference you will have to do more than one or two unless you are just doing one area, ie around the mouth. Also you must be infection free and off antibiotics because you don't want to infect the filler.

I would advise that you wait until you are feeling well and without other medical problems, and then have a consultation for fillers; there are many good options, and your age is not a problem. See a board certified specialist to get an informed opinion.
