I am 31 and started noticing these laugh lines becoming folds lately especially after I've lost some weight! It's very upsetting seeing myself in the mirror and I feel like it adds to my age. I went to a sk:n clinic in London and was recommended Juvaderm filler in the cheeks to add lost volume and fill in lines themselves if required. I never had any cosmetic procedure/ injection done so a bit stressed. I have a thin skin. I try to do facial exercises but no effect. My appointment is in a week

Answer: I'm not so certain Juvederm in the cheeks will help. Hello,Thanks for your question. From the limited picture you've posted you appear to have mild to moderate nasolabial folds. Enhancement of the cheek can offset some of this, but a heavier filler such as Voluma or Radiance/Radiesse would be better in the cheeks for revoluminization and lift. I also feel that autologous ("your own") fat grafting works well in the cheeks. Nasolabial folds, in my opinion, are better treated with direct injection of filler. In this case Juvederm works nicely. Different areas of the face respond differently to injection enhancement. Consult an experienced injector and find out what your spectrum of options are for enhancement.Good luck,Dr. Shah

Answer: I like the idea of injecting in your cheeks rather than the folds directly! It seems like a great idea to inject a little Juvederm or Voluma in your cheek area as that is a great place to add volume. The old method was to inject into the folds themselves, while the new way is to inject into the cheeks as that adds volume right where it will LIFT the cheek areas up and thereby diminish the folds in a natural way. You can do either Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane or Perlane for these (or other fillers if you live in London). Good luck!
