Is it safe to get Juvederm after having 1 round of Silikon 1000 injected to lips?

If an infection occurs, which is very rare, by injecting more needles in the lip with any additional filler, the silicone can get infected and this can create all sorts of problems leading to surgery to remove the silicone which can cause bad scarring or irregularity, uneveness and asymmetry. The risk might be the same whether the off-label use of Silicone for the lip is chosen or Juvederm. Delayed immune granulomas (lumps) can occur with silicone and very rarely Juvederm and chronic infections can occur. Be cautious when considering to have another filler injected on top of Silicone that was previously injected. The doctor should use a very clean technique.

I am always reluctant to inject any filler over Silicone in lips or other part of the face.  Practice shows that the results of injecting a different filler over Silicone could be unpredictable and there's always a chance of inflammation.

Great question.  While it is acceptable to place Juvederm after having other lip fillers, I can tell you from experience that the permanent fillers can have effects years later.  I have personally removed multiple 'nodule' or granulomas many years later when new asymmetries appeared.  You may consider the HA temporary fillers to resolve the asymmetry or have your physician try again with the Silicone to permanently correct it.  You may also look into consulting another Plastic Surgeon for a second opinion.  Good luck with your decision

It is probably ok to use juvederm in the presence of silikon.  Yes, silikon can cause problems with nodules, and inflammation. Best of luck.

There is no reason not to use JuveDerm or Restylane -- just so you know that these fillers are not permanent. And that's a good thing. Permanent fillers in the lips with silicone can lead to asymmetry or lumps, and that is permanent. Most of the doctors that inject silicone -- and it is not FDA approved for this -- will tell you more than one injection is needed. There are not many out there in today's world that I would trust with this in the lips.

Silikon and hyaluronic acid fillers often require microadjusting.  Ideally, I would discuss with your physician microadjusting the Silikon and placing just 0.1cc at a time to the side that is less full.  On the other hand, it is not unsafe to have hyaluronic acid in the same area after Silikon.  Both fillers carry similar risk of possible granuloma, lump, scar, but hyaluronic acid is more forgiving and reversible with the Hylase.
