Question

When I smile, my upper lip hides away and becomes thin. What will fix this, while keeping it looking natural in a resting position?

Thank you for your question and pictures.  Voluminous lips are more sought after than ever before. Non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as lip filler injections have proved an effective way to provide a more puckered look. Lip Filler will increase the fullness giving more volume to the upper lip balancing with the bottom.  The fillers are temporary lasting approximately 4-6 months.Prior to injection, local anaesthetic paste is usually applied for approximately 45 minutes and cooling packs are also helpful to minimise discomfort and bruising from the injections. Once the filler has been injected your specialist will massage the injected area briefly to ensure that the filler is spread evenly and this completes the treatment.All The Best

You would get a nice improvement with lip fillers. These fillers, (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a symmetrical lip. Nova threads can be used to improve lift and shape. Implants or fat are alternatives. Technique will be important here, so you'll want to see someone meticulous. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

technique I recommend is a lip lift.  A
lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between the nose and upper lip,
increases the mucosa show of the upper lip, increases incisor show and elevates

Undereyequestion0127. I appreciate your concern, you have a very pretty face, so I would recommend conservative lip augmentation with Hyaluronic Acid,  like Juvederm Ultra plus. Another option is fat transfer which is more permanent. Seek out a board certified plastic surgeon in your area, Good Luck!

Dear Undereyequestion0127,I typically use Juvederm for my lip sculpting. There are two main focuses of lip injections, adding volume and actually sculpting the shape. Both involve injecting the filler in different areas of the lips and patterns.
I would recommend finding a plastic surgeon to perform you lip injections. Most of my patients have results that last at least 6 months.Daniel Barrett, MD

Lip enhancement is a non-invasive procedure in which a filler substance is injected into the lip to restore volume or enhance the shape or contour of the lip. I would recommend conservative treatment using a hyaluronic acid based filler like Restylane Refyne. A small amount of Botox or Dysport around the lips could also help evert the lip and give you a so called "botox lip lift".
