Are bumps on top of lips after fillers normal? (Photos)

sd_misfit.   Please call the doctor in Mexico and find out exactly what kind of filler he injected in your lips!  If it was a product like Juvederm, then try massage and hopefully it will settle down. However, I have treated patients who were injected in Mexico and the material used was not approved for use here in the United States and I had to remove it surgically. I do not wish to alarm you, however if the lump does not settle down, consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist in San Diego. Hi. Thank you for your question. It seems the bump is caused by superficial filler injection. It might subside with gentle massage for several days. If no improvement, you can have small amount of hyaluronidase injected to soften the bump. Be sure to see an expert injector for evaluation.  

There can be some swelling and/or lumps after lip injections which can last 1-2 weeks. You can apply firm pressure between two fingers on the lips for a few days, for 5 mins a time, in order to help decrease swelling and even out the lumps. If you're unhappy with your final results you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

Looks like the filler is present too superficially and in a slightly larger amount than necessary. If this does not improve over the next week or so you may need to have an injection of hyaluronidase to have this filler dissolved. Good luck from New York City
