I'm 5 months post-op from getting a nipple lift and breast augmentation. My left breast seemed to have the most "issues" since the beginning after surgery with muscle spasms and spitting stiches. I'm having pain to the touch and hyper sensitivity with my left nipple. It comes and goes... but it's been persistent for the past couple of days. Just pressing on it hurts. Is that normal 5 months after surgery? My right side feels completely fine.

Answer: 5 months pain? Although 5 months is a long time to still experience pain and sensitivity issues, it is not entirely unusual. You might need a bit more time for this to resolve. In the meantime, if you have already discussed this issue with your plastic surgeon, the you don't need to bother them at this stage. I am certain they will tell you to wait as well. In the meantime, you can try over the counter anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen etc, when the pain is uncomfortable. Be patient. If this does not resolve in the next few months, then you may want to bring this to your ps attention. Good luck. Hope this helps.Dr Vasisht

Answer: Yes It is not common but you can still have pain and sensitivity issues at 5 months. Most are self limiting and will improve during the next several months.Best Wishes,Nana Mizuguchi, MD
