I'm scheduled for surgery on 5/11. I never get sick but once a year I will get allergies and/or a sinus infection. What over the counter mess can I take?

Answer: Breast augmentation surgery and allergy medicines You should always check with your surgeon. I advise my patients that something like Claritin is okay, but that they should stay away from medications containing aspirin, non-steroidals like ibuprofen, and drugs that contain cardiac stimulants. For more information on this and similar topics, I recommend a plastic surgery Q&A book like "The Scoop On Breasts: A Plastic Surgeon Busts the Myths."

Answer: Over the counter medication It is always best to consult with your plastic surgeon prior to taking any medication prior to surgery. In my practice I recommend taking Claritin to help with allergies. I also have my patients avoid medications that can cause bleeding like aspirin and NSAID's. Herbals can also cause bleeding two weeks prior to surgery. All the best
