Can I take whey protein before breast augmentation?

Question

I'm taking this weight gainer whey protein which contain several vitamins. I'll have my operation on 28 Oct. 2017. Should I stop taking it or it's fine. Thank you for your answer.

Taking a protein supplement is not likely to cause any concerns regarding your upcoming surgery. In fact, many plastic surgeons will recommend that you eat a diet that is rich in healthy protein to help you prepare for surgery. However, it’s always best to discuss any kind of supplements you’re taking with your plastic surgeon. His or her instructions are the final word on what you should and should not do prior to surgery.

Thank you for your questions. I typically advise my patients to drink protien shakes before and after surgery to help with recovery. Please check with your Board Certified Surgeon for instructions.

Whey protein should not effect your surgery.  Make sure if you are on any other supplements that you review them with your PS.

I encourage my patients to consume 100 grams a protein a day to help their bodies recover and repair after surgery.  You should check with your Plastic Surgeon to make sure they approve of your protein supplement.  Good luck.

Your protein supplement has some vitamin E in it, not much though. I think it  would be OK, but you had better ask your plastic surgeon. Vitamin E does make you bleed more, as does fish oil, aspirin, flax seed oil, anti-inflammatories, green tea, as well as other things. Be sure you get a list from your PS. These are things you must avoid for at least 2 weeks before surgery. Three weeks is better yet.Thank you for your question, and good luck.

Protein is always good to take before surgery, but please show this to your plastic surgeon. Your photo does not show the complete ingredient label.

Thanks for your question. I would probably hold it for about 5 days before surgery. The only ingredient that might cause a problem is the Vitamin E which can affect blood clotting. You should be able to resume it a few days after surgery. Best wishes on your procedure.
