My breast seems to have a very pronounced diamond shaped areola after surgery. is this normal? (Photo)

The way the borders of the lift are tapped and dressed prevents you from seeing the areola and its shape. Your surgeon probably reinforced the surgical closure to help prevent spreading and to give it support. I'm sure well qualified plastic surgeons who are doing mastopexy/breast lifts would strive for a round nice shaped areola. With periareolar donut mastopexy, the outer ring of breast skin that is constricted down to the smaller areola will give some ruffling that might take a few months to smooth out all the way. Don't be worried and discuss all these with your surgeon the next visit.  

I doubt your areola is square after a mastopexy. I think you're confusing the border of the dressing with the border of the areola.

Please check with your plastic surgeon. He/she can best discuss and advise you. At one day post procedure there are many expected changes to come with swelling resolution, healing and settling. Good luck

Looks like your surgeon did an artful job of creating a bandage with a diamond opening.  Good question to ask AFTER your bandage comes off, if they are still diamond shaped.

I am sure it is just the dressing and things will settle. The body rarely maintains such geometric shapes on healing and am sure it will be due to the dressing. Best wishes

I think it is very unlikely that is the shape of your areola. It looks from the picture like that is just the shape of the dressing that was placed around the nipple to catch any drainage.  Take a deep breath and wait until the dressings are removed before you stress. I am sure under the dressing that they are nice and round. Good luck!

I would recommend discussion with your surgeon.  It looks to me that the diamond shape is just the outline of the surgical dressing and that your areola is likely round under it.  Good luck, Gaurav Bharti

You seem to be stressing for nothing.  Your dressing is still in place.  A diamond-shaped hole was cut in the dressing to allow space for your nipple.  Once your dressing is removed, I am confident you will have a circular areola.

The diamond shape you see is caused by the dressing.  I am quite certain that that is not the shape of your areola which will likely be rounded and normal.
