Can I have a tummy tuck with this appendix surgery scar? (Photos)

Im 25 and I had my appendix remove but I was really young back then it was the old way. I start growing up and gaing a lot of weight and had a baby. Im planning to have a mommy makeover on May 2018. I was wondering if I would be elegible to get a tummy tuck with this scar. Leaving pictures

Hi, Thank you for your post. Congratulations on your surgery!  It takes 6 months to a year for the swelling to go down after a tummy tuck. Pain is normally controlled by pain medicine. If you have any questions or concerns follow up with your plastic surgeon.

With an open wound like this we can let it heal on it's own, known as a 'conservative scar'. This is my preferred approach, however, during the recovery period you would need to follow up with your Doctor to ensure the healing isn't interrupted.

I am sorry to hear about your situation. By now you should not still have drainage. This suggests that something is not healing properly and can include: sutures spitting or infected, a seroma (fluid collection), the belly button skin necrosis, and several other things. These can all be treated...

Some women develop scar tethering as a result of their C-section which can be improved and corrected upon with a full tummy tuck procedure.  It poses increased risk of bleeding but this is not an uncommon situation that is addressed with tummy tucks.  Hope this helps.

TT 10 days post-op, drains still in. The doctor won't remove until 10cc. I think this is crazy! What can I do?

Drain protocols will vary from surgeon to surgeon. Most will ascribe to a 30 cc limit. Once a drain reaches < 30 cc over consecutive 24 hour periods, it will typically be removed. The goal is to leave a means of fluid eggress in place until the flap has had the opportunity to stick down and...
