With an open wound like this we can let it heal on it's own, known as a 'conservative scar'. This is my preferred approach, however, during the recovery period you would need to follow up with your Doctor to ensure the healing isn't interrupted.

Dear Patient:  you need close supervision and good wound care.  Please follow closely with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, keeping the wound clean and applying antibiotic ointment.  Follow your PS instructions.  Hope this helps and good luck!

Dear Msmal897,this is not unusual after tummy tuck. I would suggest you to follow your surgeon's instructions. You should keep your wound clean and covered and it should heal just fine. You do indeed have delayed healing following wound separation.  The best approach is to follow your surgeon's wound care instructions, allow complete healing, and assess the final scar 6-12 months afterward.

It looks like you have a partial wound separation and without an exam in person, difficult to determine whether secondary closure is necessary. Wounds like this will heal over time with wound care, soap and water washing and a non stick dressing like xeroform. If the surgeon is concerned that there was too much tightness they may want it to heal from the inside. I would recommend that you avoid pulling on the skin as it would only make the opening worse. Sometimes we close wounds like this secondarily because we want it to heal more quickly and it also gives the patient some peace of mind not having an open wound for several weeks. Your plastic surgeon is in the best position to determine best course of action for you. Good luck.
