When I left the hospital the day after surgery I asked the nurse if I should use ice or heat for comfort- had a full TT with muscle repair, breast lift (no implant) and lipo inner/ outer thigh and upper/ lower stomach and flanks- she said just to take my meds and I would be fine. I feel like I should be using at least ice. It might be too late as I'm 6 days Post op. Can you confirm I shouldn't use either? Tons of bruising too (as expected)

Answer: Ice or heat? 6 days post MMO Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and congratulations on your procedure. I do not commonly advise patients to use heat or cold for their results as the temporary numbness of the skin may cause unintended consequences. The bruising will take approximately 2 weeks to fully resolve and any anti-swelling benefits can be exchanged for a well-fitting surgical garment. Hope this helps.

Answer: Ice or heat At 6 days postop ice is probably of little benefit. A heating pad could also be dangerous due to numbness and risk of a burn. The best advice is to wear a compression girdle and be ambulatory.
