Dear madam, Being 400 pounder is a serious health risk. It is called morbid obesity. Before considering cosmetic surgery you should lose your excess weight. With a BMI like you have , you qualify for gastric bypass surgery and it will be covered by your insurance. Additionally , I would recommend to you a book that I recommend to all my overweight patients - "sugar busters" It is an easy read, explaining how the body make fat . It is all based on low glycemic index food and the management of insulin secretion. Best of luck, Dr Widder
Bariatric surgery may be the best option for you as a weight loss strategy. If you are an appropriate candidate, your insurance may cover that operation. It would be necessary to seek the advise of a surgeon that performs weight loss surgery. Liposuction is not the right answer.
Liposuction is best performed on focal trouble areas for patients who are of normal body weight, or are only modestly overweight. Unfortunately patients who are significantly overweight are unlikely to see a major improvement in their overall body contour.
Liposuction is possible for someone who weighs 400 pounds but is not recommended. Liposuction at this weight and body mass index will only produce complications. It's best to be close to your goal weight prior to any body contouring surgery.
At 400 lbs liposuction would likely pose a health risk. As a cosmetic case, most plastic surgeons would not perform that case as the most important principle is 'do no harm'. However, in ANY city, there is someone that would perform any case as long as you have the money. Be careful and take care.
Anything is possible... but somethings may not be recommended. The real question...is what are your expectations from surgery? What other risk factors do you have for surgery? I am sure that you can find someone to do liposuction to these regions...but is it going to give you the results you desire, is it safe?... and only you and your plastic surgeon can answer that question. I recommend visiting a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and further discussion.
LIposuction is designed for body contouring, not for weight loss. At your weight, it would not be appropriate and there would certainly be heightened concerns re anesthesia. You should seek out a weight loss program and, if this is unavailing, consider bariatric surgery.
While it is possible., it is not recommended, because liposuction is not a device/technique to be used for weight loss per se. In your case, you shoudl go on a diet and exercise program to lose weight first, or see a bariatric surgeon. Good luck!
If you are really 400lbs, the one operation you need is a bariatric operation, not aplastic surgery operation. Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity. Make sure you see a board certified plastic surgeon for consultation, as you are likely to find someone out there who is willing to make a buck! Good luck.
you would not get a good result at that weight. first ,I recommend getting a consult from a bariatric surgeon and after significant weight loss, plastic surgery would be an option
In general the answer is yes. I have treated patients with a lap band but try to avoid the region directly around the port so not to disrupt it. Best of luck.
I'm sorry to hear of your experience. While I cannot give you specific information without a proper exam, I can tell you some general thoughts and ideas from my years of experience with liposuction.Regardless of desirable or undesirable outcomes with liposuction, it does take time to achieve...
It is typically safe for Diabetics to have liposuction as long as the diabetes is controlled. Your best bet would be to get surgical clearance from your medical doctor or endocrinologist before preceeding.
