Thank you for the question. My patients discuss prior to surgery their goals and we are detailed about the recovery. Pain and discomfort after liposuction should last for a few days. If my patients have pain that is severe or lasts for several days they are instructed to call the office to schedule an appointment. 

I'm not really sure of the relationship of liposuction to the pain you're experiencing. This is something you should work through with your plastic surgeon. If you have lost confidence get another opinion. You might need to see an orthopedic surgeon.

I'm sorry to hear of your experience.While I cannot give you specific information without a proper exam, I can tell you some general thoughts and ideas from my years of experience with liposuction.Regardless of desirable or undesirable outcomes with liposuction, it does take time to achieve final results or healing.I usually tell my patients to expect minimal to no change after six months. That said, however, most changes after surgery happen in the first three months. Our body fat serves many purposes. One is to give padding over bones and joints. If removed improperly, this can cause tenderness in certain areas.One option to consider would be fat grafting to reverse the results of the liposuction. Fat grafting is not as simple as reverse liposuction. It can be particularly challenging if there's very little tissue to graft fat into. However, with multiple sessions, excessively removed fat can often be restored.  I have had the opportunity to perform close to 1,000 liposuction and fatgrafting procedures over my career.
