Why must we have a button down the front shirt after a tummy tuck?

Hello,I advise a zip or button-front top to put on after Tummy Tuck or Breast augment because lifting your arms over your head right after surgery will be very uncomfortable and not advised.All the best!

Sometimes after surgery (especially breast and arm surgery) it helps to have clothing that is easy to put on and take off such as a button-down shirt or zip front sweatshirt.  I generally don't make this specific recommendation after abdominoplasty, but this might be what your surgeon is suggesting. 

I think your surgeon simply wants you to have an easy garment to put on right after your surgery. 

Hi, there.  Beside compression garment, you should be able to wear anything that you wan to wear.  Perhaps, your plastic surgeon wanted you to wear something that you can easily put on and off. You can always contact his/her office to find out the reasoning behind it.  Best regards.

The most important thing is that your surgeon may had wanted to put you a post surgical gargment right after surgery to prevent this...

Thank you for your question. A button up shirt is advised because it is easier to get into and out of compared with one that has to be pulled over your head.

It's for comfort..  If you have a pull over blouse or t-shirt, it's uncomfortable slipping it on and off.

Following tummy tuck surgery you will have an incision low on your abdomen. Raising your arms to put on a "pull over" garment will stretch your abdominal skin, pull on your incision and cause discomfort. Having a button garment will help avoid this type of discomfort.
