I'm 2 weeks out from a TT. I'm very petite (5ft2in, 84 pounds) and have only now regained my appetite. But I like to eat very voluminous (but low fat, fibrous and healthy meals) at a time as opposed to spreading my cals through the day. I also drink large amounts of water. Both these things tend to leave me feeling quite full and bloated. Although this has been my practice for years i'm now concerned that this will cause my TT repair to fail or affect my results in some way. Is this possible? Thank you.
Answer: Eating large meals and tummy tuck failure Hello,Thank you for your question. Regarding your specific surgical results, I'd recommend that you discuss the concerns and restrictions post operatively with your Plastic Surgeon so that you are well-informed and can plan accordingly. I wouldn't advise eating excessive amounts of food from a general health perspective. You will want to watch your calorie intake over the next few months and regular, small, healthy meals are a great way to keep your metabolism efficient and excess weight off. Ask your Plastic Surgeon to recommend a good nutritionist or dietician to you if you need assistance. All the best

Answer: Tummy tuck results can be affected by lifestyle Hi anon6587. Thank you for your question. You can definitely affect your results postoperatively for the rest of your life. The muscle tightening done as part of your tummy tuck is unlikely to come apart (bloating is from the digestive organs inside and away from abdominal muscles), but it is still possible to lose the shaping of the tuck if you gain weight. The abdominal wall can still expand with significant increases (that is why women can have healthy, normal pregnancies after tummy tucks). Consider talking with a nutritionist, dietician, internist, GI doctor, or functional medicine practioner, as reggular bloating after even healthy meals is not necessarily good. Small meals through out the day will keep a constant supply of nutrients fueling your metabolism, without ups and downs. Good luck!

Answer: Tummy Tuck Failure The way you treat your body for the rest of your life will have an effect on your tummy tuck results. Repeated pressure on the abdominal wall can cause it to stretch and lose the desired effect. Please consult a registered dietician to make sure your eating habits are healthy for you, and please also let your plastic surgeon know about your eating habits as they may effect your results.

Answer: Large meals, post tt Hi anon6587Although you eat healthy, in the long run, daily binges are likely not the ideal way to consume. I would check with a dietitian, but I think grazing is likely the best way, with limiting later in the evening eating. However, with respect to your surgery, I can speak with more authority. Especially in the first 6 weeks post op you don't want to stress the repair- including getting bloating. After that initial post op time continued bloating will over time stretch out your abdominal wall.Hope this helps.sek
