Can I inject Botox to improve my smile?

Thank you for your question.  Botox could only help raise your upper lip further if there was a muscle that was causing it to droop when you smile.  Unfortunately there are no muscles that do this, therefore Botox treatment would be ineffective.

This is not possible with Botox. All the muscles above the lip cause lifting of the lip, so placing Botox there would only result in showing less teeth. Discuss this with your dentist and see if caps can help this out. Otherwise a Plastic Surgeon can do a lip lift.

Botox can improve a "gummy" smile whereupon your upper central teeth/gums show too much when you smile.  However, this lowers the lip when you smile for those with the problem just described.  I am not aware of improvement of smiling by helping it lift more.  Botox to the lip depressor muscles (depressor angularis oris) can help gently lift the outer corners of the lips, but for your concern I'm not aware of a muscle/technique to improve your smile with Botox.  There are surgical lip lifts that can help accentuate the lip appearance both at rest and with smiling and dermal fillers can enhance the outline, shape, volume depending upon your concerns.  Best regards.

The short answer is No, Botox would not lift your upper lip. There are no pictures posted to review ; however, your best option may be a surgical lip lift with incisions hidden in the nostrils.

When Botox is injected into a muscle, it weakens it. This is for the general purpose of slowing down a muscle that is too strong. Sometimes Botox may be used to weaken one set of muscles so the muscles opposing it can work a little easier. In the case of your smile, Botox may be useful in the setting of a gummy smile. It can relax some of the muscles that pull too much on the upper lip. It's not so helpful for a upper lip that doesn't elevate. You don't want any of those muscles to be weaker. Making adjustments to such a mobile part of your face can be challenging. I recommend consulting with an experienced surgeon who can see your mouth/lips in all positions and expression before moving forward with a plan. 

  Hi, I have used Botox for many years.  Botox to the upper lip muscles would weaken them decreasing their ability to lift up making things worse, not better.  Botox is used when the upper lip is raised up "too much" when smiling referred to as a "gummy smile".  Your's is the opposite of that situation and would not be an indication for Botox.Hope this helps.
