I’m currently on a weight loss journey but have always had difficulty with an area of fat just above my glutes. My question is with weight loss will this area of fat decrease or would it need to be removed with liposuction?

It really depends. These fat deposit will always decrease in fat with weight loss but even after you reach your « ideal weight » certain fat deposits can be stubborn.

Thank you very much for your question. As you probably know the fat distribution is individually very different. Of course the fat will decrease if you are losing weight. The question is if you are pleased with the amount of decrease once you reach your target weight. It is important not to be overweight when undergoing any type of elective surgery like any cosmetic procedures. Best if you are under the BMI of 33. In my experience, however this might not be enough to Reduce the fat in the described area. So if you are at your target weight and the fat is still too much in that area. With your body type and fat distribution, it is unlikely that you will loose this fat collection just with weight loss; very likely that liposculpting using liposuction would be needed to achieve good result. Continue loosing weight and when close to your goal, consult a board certified plastic surgeon regarding liposuction. Good luck.

Weight loss will significantly improve the areas of your concern.  Once you have achieved your ideal weight, any residual issues will be more easily addressed with lipo or a tuck.

It's difficult to answer this question definitively.  If you have noticed changes in this area with past weight loss/gain then you should see improvement.  If it's been resistant then it likely will continue to be.  If you elect liposuction you should have a nice improvement.  See a board certified plastic surgeon near you when you're ready!

I rarely say this, but you are why they invented liposuction for!.  You would benefit greatly by an aggressive liposuction with sculpting of the sides, lower back and upper buttock area.
I highly doubt that your upper bitstock are will be as attractive with weight loss vs post liposuction.
