Your should ask this question of the PS who performs your BBL as all PSs have different post-operative protocols based upon your health, the procedures performed, how you are recovering, and travel destination along with mode of transportation. Most plastic surgeons would recommend limiting your driving the first 6 to 8 weeks following the BBL. I recommend that my patients minimize sitting, even with a pillow, for the first two weeks. If they have to sit, it is critical that every 30 minutes or an hour you stop, get out of your vehicle, and stand for a few seconds to take the pressure off. Driving is much worst than sitting as pushing on the accelerator or brake involves pushing back against the buttocks and lower back. My patients stay 8 to 10 days in LA before returning home via plane or car.
Hello @Gorgeous762828 and thank you for your question. Well, it is important to note that this depends more on the doctor's recommendations, since not all surgical techniques are the same. Is important that the patient understand that when liposuction is perform he or she is going to requiere care the first few days. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez
Dear Gorgeous762828,I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. They can sleep on their stomachs or sides. Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
One week at the minimum. WE want you to feel good and be very active before you go to return home after traveling for a BBL. So a lot of walking and movement is needed to decrease the risk of blood clots and traveling can increase the risk of blood clots so when you travel very frequent stops if traveling by car and frequent walking on the plane if traveling by air. Wear compression stockings and consume adequate water. The video link has other travel tips for surgery.
I don’t recommend patients travel long distances for elective surgical procedures. patients often do not appreciate the importance of having multiple in person consultations well in advance of having surgery, the importance of in person follow up, the number of people who have major issues with their outcomes, that complications actually happen or how many people may need revisions after surgery.Almost everybody travels via car after surgery but for most people it’s a relatively short distance. If you’re planning on traveling a long distance then you should talk to your surgeon about their policies for sitting after the procedure and what they recommend. If you’ve had a consultation than it should’ve been reviewed at that time. When traveling by car patients should take safety precautions including wearing seatbelts.Check in with your provider and get some guidance in regards to postoperative instructions. If you haven’t chosen a provider yet then I suggest having a few in person consultations at which time you can ask all your questions.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
Hello @Gorgeous762828 thank you for your question. I suggest a healthy diet, it is not necessary to loose weight before surgery, you just need to take care of your diet and to make sure that the previous exams are as good as possible. Improving your eating habits will also benefit long-term...

Dear Dazzling331793, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper...
