Does medpor need to be removed from the nose if I haven't had any problems?

hi doctors i have a medpor implant in my nose from over 6 years ago and i havnt had problems since. does this need to be removed even after having lots of revisions on other areas of the nose? can it be safely removed without losing the augmentation gained? or even is it safe to replace lost augmentation with rib cartlidge? my nasal bridge skin is thin as my doctor once described but i do have a thicker skin nasal tip due to my ethnicity.

Medpor can potentially cause issues with infection and extrusion. The chances of this happening can  vary with the time that it has been present as well as the location of where it was inserted with less chance if it is used in the columella. However, if it is not causing any current issues, I would leave things be. If it is removed, you may well need replacement with rib if you have had many prior rhinoplasties. Best Wishes.

Yes it is possible to remove Medpor from the nose, but it is much more difficult than a silicone implant because the tissue grows into it. If it is removed, you will need something else to replace the augmentation. Diced cartilage in fascia would probably work best if you have thin skin. Good luck.
