I had 1 ml of voluma in each cheek and just under the orbital rim 10 months ago. It left me with a complication of a crease that appears when I smile under one of my eyes. What happens when I discontinue use of voluma? Will I go back to baseline? I have read that I could have saggy skin cause the filler causes stretching and that it causes underlying tissue to develop differently.
Answer: Results after Voluma wears off Thank you for your question. Your voluma will eventually wear down. And you should return back to baseline. If you would like to accelerate the time course, then I would go to an experienced injector who can use an enzyme to dissolve the Voluma

Answer: Voluma There have been no studies to support that filler stretches the skin so much that one is left with laxity afterward. Especially when such small volumes have been used, such as 1 cc per cheek. There actually has been a couple of studies to support that fillers, such as Voluma, have been shown to stimulate collagen and elastin production which one would anticipate with tighten the skin more. Voluma has been shown to last 2 years, so in 2 years, if one sees changes, it may not be necessarily due to the Voluma going away as much as the fact that one is 2 years older and would have seen age related changes anyway. You can always go back to your doctor to see if you can dissolve the Voluma with hyaluronidase if you don't like it.

Answer: What Happens If I Discontinue Voluma? Thanks for your question.Sorry to hear you were not pleased with your results. The good news about HA fillers is that if you do not like the results, the product will eventually dissolve and you will go back to baseline. Voluma is credited with lasting up to two years, but often you will see the results fade before that. If you are really unhappy with the results, you can have the product dissolved with another injection. But most people just wait and let it gradually resolve. With a small volume of injection such as 1 ml in each cheek, I think the amount of skin stretching you have will be minimal and not noticeable after the product dissolves. Good luck to you!

Answer: Done with Voluma When you discontinue Voluma the volume of your face will gradually return to normal. However, this may take a year or more which is why Voluma is so popular. A more immediate method of returning the volume of your cheeks to what they were before treatment would be to have hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid fillers, injected into the same areas. The enzyme will generally dissolve the product in 8-24 hours. The main risk with these injections is bruising, similar to the injections of filler. Best of luck,Cody Kocy
