Hi there,Unfortunately I don't think there is any accurate reliable measure or correlation between implant weight and bra cup size! There are multiple factors involved, which include your breast dimensions, body frame, tissue quality as well as specific brands of bra that you like!In general and from personal experience based on patient feedbacks, it is estimated to be around 120-150g per one cup size increase for patient with similar body stats like yours. So to go from B to DD, you would probably need to aim for around 350-400g range for your choice of implant size. Obviously it'll be important for you to communicate your desires and expectations of your breast augmentation surgery to your plastic surgeon which relates to your unique circumstances.Hope that helps.Best wishesEllis Choy
Greetings Lollylegs. I appreciate your questions. Unfortunately, there's no way to give you specific answers about size without seeing you in consultation and performing an examination. I can suggest you consider some principles I use to "guide" patients when choosing a breast cup for their breast augmentation. A key for me is using the Mentor Volume Sizing System of breast sizers to demonstrate how these different volumes will look on your body. You will have to go into the office to do this. Look at sizes between 325-425 for all the options. Explore reasonable options for breast implant size, usually two to three similar sizes, which allows the patient to visualize how different volumes affect their breast cup.You can see results of round and shape implants in the link below! Best wishes always,Dr. Aldo
Hi. Provided your base width measurement is accurate - Roughly speaking you would be looking around 350cc. Regards Damien
Hello Thank you for your question. I agree with the previous Surgeon's. An in person consult is the best way to assess what is the best for you. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon. Best regards
Far more important than the techniqueis the skill and experience of your plastic surgeon. Choose your surgeon ratherthan the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better thananother. See the below link on somesuggestions on finding the most qualified Plastic Surgeon for a Breast Augmentation. Any women desiring breast augmentation surgery is a candidate as long as there are no health problems present which would preclude her from having surgery. If the desired goal is to enhance or restore size and shape or to improve asymmetry, breast augmentation is a viable option. Breast augmentation can improve a body image, self-esteem, self-concept, and quality of life.Ideal Candidates for Breast AugmentationDesire larger, shapelier breasts.Moderate degree of breast sag and smaller breasts, whose problem can be solved by enlargement. One breast that is noticeably smaller or is positioned differently than the other (asymmetry).Uneven chest wall or rib cage.Women requiring breast reconstruction following a mastectomy.Restore breast volume or shape following pregnancy, breast feeding and/or weight loss.
As you probably know, cc's do not translate into a cup size. It's hard to determine your best implant size without specific breast measurements and an in person exam. Remember to choose a board certified plastic surgeon who actually takes the time to measure you and examine your breast pocket. The goal of breast augmentation is to optimally fill your breast pocket, not to overstuff or understuff it. At my practice, we utilize a series of 5 breast measurements that help me determine the implant size, which in turn helps me deliver a 24 hour recovery. Do your research and choose a surgeon who takes the time to sit down with you and discuss your goals/expectations to determine the best size for you. In general, high profile implants give a more rounded, shelf look and moderate plus implants tend to give a more natural look. Also, remember that sizers will only give you a rough estimate. Good luck!!!
I appreciate your question. The size of implant best for you is dictated by yourchest wall measurements. Once we determine that we can choose the profilebased on what you want or need to achieve. If you are seeking a natural look, then the diameter of the implant should be equal to or, more ideally, smallerthan the width of your breast. The breast width is a measurement of how wideyour breast is at the base, which should be measured at the level of thenipple. Choosing an implant that is smaller in diameter than your breast widthwill avoid the "side breast" fullness that is often associated with amore artificial appearance. Other than that, you should choose theimplant based on volume, not on the dimensions of the implant. You shouldchoose a board certified plastic surgeon that you trust to help guide you inthis decision. Silicone will give you a fullness at thetop (upper pole fullness).Silicone implants come pre-filled with asilicone gel and are the softest implant available. They feel more natural, which makes them a good option for women with less natural breast tissue; butthey require a larger incision. It may be more difficult to realize if thistype of implant has ruptured, so it is important to monitor them with annualfollow-up visits. Additionally, because this implant contains a more liquidsilicone (less cross-linked), if this implant should rupture, it will leak onlyinto the scar capsule formed around the implant but may cause some discomfortor implant distortion.Anatomic gummy bear implants might be agood choice to give you volume. These highly-sought-after, anatomicimplants offer a look that more closely resembles the natural silhouette of abreast, and, therefore, are a very attractive option for individuals seeking anatural-looking, aesthetic primary breast augmentation. Additionally, theseimplants are an especially excellent option for patients undergoing restorativeor corrective breast surgery because they provide more stability, shape, andreduced incidence of capsular contracture. Compared to other types of siliconegel implants, the silicone in the cohesive gel implant is more cross-linked;therefore, should the implant shell “rupture,” it maintains its shape andsilicone does not leak.During your breast augmentationconsultation, you should feel the different types of implants available, andtry on various implant sizers in front of a mirror to help you to get an ideaof how you will look following the surgery. You should also bring pictures ofthe look you would like to achieve, as well as a favorite top to wear whentrying on implant sizers. The best way to assess and give trueadvice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plasticsurgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative breast surgery.Best of luck!Dr. Schwartz
Hello lollylegs and thank you for your question. I want to start off by tellingyou what I tell many of my patients: Do not focus on cc's or bra sizesas many women see their friend with "x" number of cc implants etc andthink that they have an idea of what they want. There is a lot that goes intoimplant selection -- your breast volume, the amount of cleavage you wantto achieve, your base width, your rib shape/projection, etc. Without seeing you and doing yourmeasurements, it isdifficult to assess accurately your final breast size or shape. The other thing to consider is that most women are not accurately sized for their bras. The most important thing to consideris really the size and look that is appealing to YOU with the implantsyou choose. Many surgeons have sizing models whether using bras withimplants or computer simulation. I encourage you to discuss with yoursurgeon many of these considerations when deciding whichimplant and size to use during your surgery. Additionally, a breastimplant is a round object and has a certain diameter. Your base widthon each side of your chest will determine "how big of a ball" or whatdiameter implant you can reliably go up to with a socially acceptablecosmetic outcome. The implant will "augment" or increase the size of your breasts to an amount acceptable to you and your surgeon. My patients will try on a sports bra and then we pick the implants based on their measured breast base width. If your base width were to support for example up to a 500cc implant, I would have you try on the 500cc implants in the bra and then the 520 or 485cc implants and afterwards select the implant that made YOU the happiest. In reality, don't stress too much as this is not a HUGE difference and should be the fun part of the process. =) Go with what is acceptable based on your measurements and makes you happiest and make sure to weigh the pros and cons of the options you are considering. You can also compare the high profile with moderate profile implants and see which look you like most. The profile of the implant will determine how much upper pole fullness and overall projection you portray. Make sure to go to a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in aesthetic breast surgery.I hope this helps answer your question!Sincerely,Dr. Sean Kelishadi
Thank you for the question. There is no accurate/reliable/predictable correlation between size/profile breast implant utilized and cup size achieved. Online consultants will not be able to provide you with specific enough advice to be truly helpful. Ultimately, careful communication of your goals (in my practice I prefer the use of goal pictures, direct examination/communication in front of a full-length mirror, in bra sizers, and computer imaging) as well as careful measurements (dimensional planning) will be critical. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is:1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work.2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of know words such as “natural” or "DD cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice.3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers.I hope this (and the attached link, dedicated to breast augmentation surgery concerns) helps. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.
Without a physical exam, it is difficult to say with certainty what size implant would be appropriate for you. First, you should check with your surgeon to see if a DD cup size is feasible, not only for your frame size, but also your tissue elasticity. Ask to try on appropriate sized implants on in a bra. This should give you a good idea as to whether a DD cup size will be reasonable for you. Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
