I am 3 weeks post op and my scars don't look like they are healing! Does this look normal or infected? (photos)

I agree with my colleagues.  I see some "lifting" DermaBond on the incisions that looks like it is ready to "slough". I would not pick at it or scratch it. Just gentle cleaning with antibacterial soap and water several times a day. I typically have my patients use a silicone gel based scar cream after the "scab" comes off and recommend incisional massages with silicone.  I would discuss this with your plastic surgeon. I usually am also still very careful with my patients at this time point about submerging in water such as swimming pools, hot tubs, etc. since the incision is not fully healed and it could theoretically put you at increase risk of implant infection. Again, I would ask your plastic surgeon. I hope this helps!  Good luck!

There doesn't appear to be any redness in the area indicating the start of an infection however you do have a good amount of DermaBond hanging in there.  Scars generally take anywhere from 6 months to 1 year to fully heal so it's strongly encouraged to utilize scar minimizing products such as Embrace or medical grade scar gels to aid in the healing and appearance of your scars.  Good luck and congratulations again!

It almost looks like you have some residual surgical glue (Dermabond?) that makes the scars look worse than they are.  Review this with your surgeon in person and he/she should be able to give you the final answer and recommendations for scar management.  Best wishes,

It's really hard to tell much from photos, but your incisions appear to be intact, there is no redness or other sign of infection, there is a little bit of what appears to be Dermabond hanging on, and you are making some scar tissue.  By all means, share your concerns with your surgeon to make there isn't a problem, but final results with scar fading, etc. will take at least 6 months.  And you should withhold judgment until then.
