I would love to get a rhinoplasty but when I look at before and after pictures I never see any noses similar to mine and I'm wondering if what I want is even attainable? Id like the nostrils and tip smaller and less turned up, and the bridge a little narrower. I have not had any previous facial plastic surgery. Thank you!
Answer: Can my pig nose be fixed? The areas that concern you can be realistically improved with an artistically performed rhinoplasty. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best surgery. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon certified by the American Board of American Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACS La Jolla,California

Answer: Candidate for rhinoplasty Thank you for your inquiry! It seems that you are a good candidate for a corrective rhinoplasty. Nonetheless, it is not possible to provide you with specific details without a physical examination in person. The finest cosmetic results in any particular case are based on a variety of factors, including: the unique anatomy of the patient, realistic expectations, a well-informed and detailed discussion with your plastic surgeon concerning the best options for you especially covering a deep understanding of the pros and cons of any given choice you will adopt. Please keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon online who offers to tell you what to do without a physical examination covering the nature and the status of the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative solution would not be in your best interest. With that in mind, it is the safest and for your best interest to find a plastic surgeon with solid experience and certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery who is ideally a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons that you will trust and be comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Ali Sajjadian, MD FACS

Answer: Nasal lengthening for a "piggy" nose A piggy type nose can be corrected. It requires an experienced plastic surgeon in rhinoplasty who is used to doing these types of surgeries. As mentioned below, it requires the use of septal extension grafts. The results can be quite dramatic.
