Laser doesn't work very well on stretch marks and can be risky to do on the neck. Lasering the neck can result in scarring, which is why many surgeons kaiser the face, but not the neck below the jawline.
I think there is definite advantage to waiting until AFTER your neck lift to treat your stretch marks for two reasons:1. Because the blood flow will be increased as part of healing your stretch marks will turn pink for up to a few months. Many types of lasers will have better results if the treatment is done while they are pink rather than white2. It will give you the opportunity to treat the scar with laser at the same time resulting in faster maturation and turning from pink to white
I would always recommend having surgery before or at the same time as laser. I would caution you against laser first unless you have no intention of having surgery.
This is an excellent question. Stretch marks can be improved with the laser. This is a matter of rebuilding the collagen in the dermis which is lost due to the striae. I would normally recommend doing the laser both before and after and is you will find that several treatments may be necessary in order to achieve the best result. The issue then becomes timing which you should discuss with her plastic surgeon.
Laser treatment to improve texture and stretch marks is now doable when combined with a neck lift or facelift. We have extensive experience in combination therapy an found improved results when performed together.
Without a photo it is difficult to answer this but most of the time my patients proceed witht he necklift first since the skin will be placed on stretch and the laser second. Best to you
Lasers have been pushed for sometime now as a treatment for stretch marks. The truth of the matter is that it sounds like a sexy and modern treatment but usually doesn't work.If the stretch marks are red and relatively new the right laser can help take the red out but is about it.Not a magic eraser .Also if the wrong laser is used or wrong energy the neck can be more prone to problems like burns or scars than the same treatment on the face
