How long does the swelling last after a platysmaplasty?

Recovery time from a facelift and platysmaplasty varies from person to person, but patients can generally expect to be presentable within three weeks from surgery. Patients should expect swelling, bruising, and discoloration of the skin during this phase of recovery (swelling normally goes down after 48-72 hours; most bruising will go away within two weeks). Keeping your head elevated, low salt diet, blood pressure kept normal or low-normal, Bromelain and Arnica all helpful to speed the swelling resolution process

A very common question. Like most surgery, you can typically expect normal swelling to last 1-2 weeks and then it will continue to slowly resolve. My best advice is to contact your surgeon just to ensure its normal. Its always better to be safe than sorry. Dr Bonaparte

It will take a few weeks for the irregularities and the tightness in the neck to soften. You are too early at the moment to judge the results and you need to take some time. Keeping your head upright and sleeping on a couple of pillows will help but it is normal for swelling following a platysmaplasty. I don't tend to recommend ice or heat but I would check with your PS.
