I want to know what my options are for raising my cheeks without adding any volume. I lost all my babyfat in my twenties and love the new slim look of my face, however, my cheeks have drooped a bit so now I have lines next to my nose and next to my mouth. What can I do to rid myself of these? I've tried fillers before and the results made me look like a chipmunk and didn't chsnge much.
Answer: Age is not the most important factor when considering a facelift. While I would in general agree with the other surgeons reluctance to do a facelift in a 27 year old patient, I have found that age is not the most important factor. Facelifts are an effective treatment for loose or sagging skin. Usually this is seen in patients in their 40's and up but I have seen younger patients that have lost weight or have early skin laxity changes that would see improvement with a facelift. Younger patients actually do better with facelift surgery than older patients since they heal faster and have greater skin elasticity. If you can pull up gently on your cheeks and it corrects the sagging that you see you may be a good candidate. Photos and in person examination would permit a more accurate assessment of the your face and what would be best for you.Good luck and I hope this helps.

Answer: Facelift for 27 Year Old At 27 years old, you are relatively young to be considering a facelift surgery. A more reasonable alternative could be a “mini facelift,” which is essentially a less intense, less invasive version of the traditional facelift surgery. The only tradeoff, as you may guess, would be that your results would be less dramatic. Other options to correct the lines you have around the nose and mouth could be to use facial fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, and Botox. Though you may be young, you may benefit from a full facelift depending on the severity of aging. I recommend visiting a board certified facial plastic surgeon for a detailed consultation.

Answer: Facelift or fillers? If you want to get rid of the lines around your nose and mouth, then fillers is the way to go. Your previous treatment may have placed the fillers in the wrong spot. However, you can talk to a PS to find out if a facelift is suitable for you. That assessment would require an inperson consultation.

Answer: Facial rejuvenatio for a 27 year old It is difficult to make a comment or diagnose without a picture or examination. In general, best option for facial rejuvenation for a 27 year old with facial skin laxity and lack of volume is fillers in combination with skin tightening lasers. Facelift is not recommended.

Answer: How do you get that young look to your face again? As many other mentioned, its always difficult to suggest much without really having pictures. However, I will speak in general terms and hopefully it will give you some information you can look up and inquire about. For one, its very uncommon (and I mean VERY) for a 27 year old to 'require' a facelift. Obviously, noone requires one but people want one. For a person in their 20's, there are much safer and often better options. 1. Fillers - Obviously, this is the first choice. The issue with fillers is that it is highly dependent on the skill of the injector. I would think that, based on your description, you should be getting excellent results without looking abnormal. I would consider this my first choice. 2. Radiofrequency Skin Tightening - This is a method that can be used to tighten the skin. Its very effective in young people and no downtime. This is another option to help tighten and lift some saggins or loose skin. I'd look into those options and you may be surprised, Dr James P.
