I’ve waited to post a review until I was able to fully assess my recovery and how I would look over time. I had a lower face lift and upper blepharoplasty in July 2022, so it’s been 15 months since the surgery. I remain completely thrilled with the outcome. I am in my mid 50s and look at least 10 years younger than my age. But, at the same time, I look completely natural - not overly tight and none of my features look “different” than before the surgery. Instead of obvious facelift surgery, I look well rested and younger. My nasolabial folds, marionette lines and jowls are gone and the loose “gobbler” skin under my chin has tightened up (I’m not sure how since I did not require an incision in the chin, but Dr. Roswell’s technique resulted in that issue being resolved without the chin incision.) I didn't experience a drastic change in my eyelids since the upper blepharoplasty was a more minor procedure to deal with a small bit of laxity in the upper lid and removal of a slight fat pad in the upper corners of both eyes. I was worried about how the incisions would look, but I can’t detect the scars and my hair stylist told me that she can’t see the scars either. I can feel them a bit behind the ears, but even with my hair pulled back in a ponytail, they aren’t visible. The eyelid scars are undetectable. I didn’t have pain during recovery, so I only needed Tylenol for slight headaches. Sleeping was uncomfortable as expected, but I found that Tylenol PM helped a bit. I just resigned myself to the fact that my sleep would be impacted for a week or two. The only tough part of recovery was looking at my swollen face for almost two weeks. I have to admit that I was worried that the swelling might not go down and I would look like an alien for the rest of my life. Fortunately, the swelling subsided at about two weeks, with slight bruising for an additional week after that. I did have an issue with a portion of one of my eyelid incisions not healing as quickly as the rest of the incision, but Dr. Rodwell treated it in the office and it resolved on its own about two weeks after surgery. Dr. Rodwell’s demeanor is wonderful. At the consultation, I was instantly comfortable with him and his bedside manner. He even came out to my home the day after surgery for the post surgical check up. His office staff are welcoming and wonderful. The office feels more comfortable and personal than a typical cosmetic surgery office and there was never any pressure put on me to consider procedures that I didn’t need. I highly recommend Dr. Rodwell and his entire team if you are a patient considering a cosmetic procedure.
I was blown away by the care and consideration provided by the team at Charleston Facial Plastics! They went above and beyond in every way. I can't say enough good things about the entire experience. You call tell he was very gentle with the procedure and I had minimal swelling afterwards. I give them my highest recommendation!
I am 52 and now look like I am in my 30's. Dr. Rodwell came to my house the day after surgery so I wouldn't have to go out with bandages. He was professional, took the time to listen, and cared about the outcome. He did not try to talk me into an upper facelift, he listened to what bothered me, told me my options, and let me decide from the advice he gave. I had a neck lift and lower facelift. I could not be happier with my results. I still have numbness on one side, he warned me this could happen, but the results are so good, I am happy to live with that. Updated on 20 Feb 2022: Though some people are always mean, i am still happy with my results 1 1/2 years later. The follow up with Dr Roswell was excellent and I still highly recommend him for a facelift. His office and staff are very nice and the quality of everything he does is outstanding.
My experience with Dr. Rodwell was absolutely incredible from start to finish. He was meticulous and went above and beyond in satisfying the results of my chin implant. I also obtained Kybella, FaceTite, as well as liposuction within the jawline area. He is well educated and thorough in every aspect of surgery as well as after care. He changed my whole perspective on how I viewed myself and pays attention to the small detail. He examines your whole facial anatomy. My features are proportioned properly on my face and I enjoy viewing my side profile now. I do not think twice about it and I am comfortable in my own skin. Finally! I highly recommend Dr. Rodwell and his office and I will return in the future for upper lip fillers lol! Updated on 26 Feb 2021: A before and after picture with makeup on and how much more defined and proportionate all my features are!! I will be updating once more with a professional before & after picture from the side as well! I am obsessed with the results! Thank you Dr. Rodwell!
Are you looking for a surgeon you can trust? Dr. Rodwell could not be more qualified! Every experience has been top-notch with amazing results. I started out with the occasional botox/filler appointments and quickly realized I could trust this man with a face lift. I'm feeling the best I have in years! I would highly recommend Dr. Rodwell to anyone looking for the best procedure options in the industry.
I can't say enough positive things about Dr Rodwell. He is simply the best in Charleston and I've tried a few. Extremely professional and very very accessible after your treatment. His attention to details is astonishing. Thx Dr Rodwell!
I’ve been looking into skin tightening procedures for sometime now and after tons of research i have settled on getting Inmodes Morpheus 8 and skintight. I had two consultations with Dr. Rodwell where he oil his time and addressed a few different concerns I had. I immediately booked my treatment for July 10th! I’m super excited and I don’t feel nervous at all. Dr. Rodwell is a FACIAL Plastic Surgeon, the only kind I would trust doing anything from the neck up. Being in the industry I’m very knowledgeable on techniques used in aesthetic facial surgery and the importance of a surgeons specialty. So I feel 100% confident in Dr. Rodwells ability to give me amazing results safely. I will post pictures once my procedure takes place. I am getting my procedure done right in his beautiful office in downtown Charleston since anesthesia is not required, which is extremely convenient. Updated on 12 Jul 2019: Just as I thought..smooth as could be with almost no pain! The only part I really felt was some of the numbing shots, and where the skin was thinner during the Morpheus 8 treatment, all vey tolerable though. I have had laser hair removal that felt worse. I chose Accutight followed by the Morpheus 8. It was performed in Dr. Rodwell’s office with him and his very pleasant nurse. I had great conversations during the procedure and it was very relaxing. Not to mention Dr. Rodwell gave me the ability to use laughing gas if I needed to take the edge off anytime during the procedure. After the procedure I wasn’t in any pain at all, but I looked like i was stung by bees, or gained 300lbs (Just in my face) lol. I was very swollen as to be expected, but hardly and redness. I even felt fine enough to walk home since I live very close to the office. Overall the experience was wonderful! I can’t wait to see the results after I start healing. They said my swelling will gradually decline over the week. It’s already better today than it was yesterday when I left he office. I’ll keep everyone up to date on my healing. I’m hoping to see around 30% of what face-lift would have done. I was considering a mini lift until I found Dr. Rodwell. I’m grateful he saved me from going under the knife if I didn’t have to for the results I was expecting. He is very honest and will never push anything more than he thinks you would benefit from. It’s hard to find someone who cares more about the person than the bottom dollar in this industry. Charleston is lucky to have Dr. Rodwell! Updated on 20 Jul 2019: Things are looking really great. I can already see improvement in the texture and tightness in my skin. I’m not sure how much residual swelling is to account for that as far as the firmness in my skin. I can tell I’m still swollen around my Jowl area but it’s not noticed by anyone else. Most of my swelling went down within 5/6 days after. I went to work on Thursday, exactly one week later and no one could tell I had anything done. I had a little numbness in my cheeks for a few days and tenderness on my neck. Other than the annoying breakout I get after any type of microneedling session (I do my own own microneedling often) that’s about the only thing that is noticeable at this point to others. Overall the healing is coming along nicely. I can’t wait to see the results after more time ha gone by and after my second RF session in September. We are waiting until all the tissue has completely healed from the Skin Tight treatment before we do another RF treatment. I think it’s really great that Dr. Rodewell gives you two treatments of RF microneedling when you get the skin tight procedure. I’m not sure if that standard or not, or just another Of Dr. Rodwells ways he goes above and beyond for patient satisfaction. I will post pics soon. Updated on 8 Jan 2020: I am now into my third week after my third Morpheus 8 session with doctor Rodwell. This time we decided together to do a bit more with the acutite in my lower face and under my chin to get stronger results from my initial full face acutite treatment. I still have a tiny bit of numbness around my laugh lines but I look completely back to normal,...but better! The first acutite treatment I felt really did more for my cheekbone area as far as lifting and tightening. But after waiting months for healing and Collagen production to occur, my jawline didn’t seem to get the same results as far as tightening that I was looking for. So when I discussed this with doctor Rodwell he offered to do a second acutite treatment in the lower part of my face when I come in for my third and final Morpheus treatment that was all included in my initial treatment cost. Not only that, but he also added in an additional co2 laser for under my eyes to help tighten the skin. So far the healing and collagen production along with skin tightening is still in the beginning phase. I have months to go to see the final outcome of all of these treatments, but I can tell already there is a huge improvement in the texture and elasticity. my jawline, marionette lines, and the skin under my chin is much tighter as well. I’m so excited to see the continual improvement over the next few months. Dr. Rodwell is a true artist in facial rejuvenation! I will be returning for future maintenance and any other procedures he specializes in when the time comes. I feel completely safe and confident with Dr. Rodwell and I refer all Of my Clients looking for facial improvements to him any chance I get. Charleston is lucky to have such a skilled surgeon to call upon.
This doctor for above and beyond. I wa s so nervous to have my birth mark removed off my face. He not only made me feel super comfortable but did an amazing job! Painless and hardly any scar. He continued to offer scar resurfacing months afterward to get that perfect scarless look. You can't even tell I had a birth mark. It was pretty big, about the diameter of a blue berry and now nothing. I'm so much more confident and would highly recommend him for any procedure!
I don’t usually write reviews, unless the services rendered are exceptional - so here I am! Dr. Rodwell and staff are very professional, courteous, and highly competent. I drove 2.5 hours, on two different occasions to have treatments here. It’s safe to say, I would drive even further if I had to! I would not trust my face in the hands of anyone else. It’s so important to find a doctor that takes the time to figure out what’s best for you now, and in the future. Dr. Rodwell certainly lives up to all his glowing reviews!
Don't get too focused on the nuances of various facelift techniques. Find a surgeon that you can trust and who will listen to your goals to help guide you in the right direction. This next comment should not be taken as something negative. There is simply no way that a patient can ever fully understand the subtleties among facelift techniques. Even other surgeons don't get that unless they happen to be surgeons who do facelifts. The big picture concepts are not too hard to grasp, but the topic is far more complex than many people realize. There are pros and cons to different techniques. I like deep plane facelifts for most patients, but that is not the only way that I perform a facelift. You will hear many differing opinions. A an early age (in your 30s) it gets even more complicated because you are also a candidate for mini facelifts. That category includes countless variations on technique as well.
Yes, it does appear that a revision procedure might be the right option for you.Your area of concern is a very challenging area for facelift / necklift procedures. What we are seeing now in your photo is skin laxity, but that is not all that is going on. There may be some underlying muscle support layer laxity as well as other possibilities such as fullness related to the submandibular glands or digastric muscles. Unlike what was mentioned in some of the other comments, I am not convinced that what you are seeing is just platysma muscle band laxity. I think there is more going on than that, but only an in person exam will be able to make sense out of that. There is no problem in seeking opinions from other doctors, but your surgeon knows you better than anyone else. That person is who you should see first.
With my patients we always make a point to try to understand the concerns and goals then think through what would be the "textbook answer" for the patient. Once we know what the best option is then we can think about cost and other real world issues like downtime. If cost is a concern then we can explore other options that will still be helpful for the patient. For a facelift there are 3 basic categories of cost to keep in mind:1.) Surgeon's Fee. This is the fee for the procedure itself and will vary based on the type of lift being done, time / complexity involved, first facelift vs revision facelift, and the quality of work and experience of the surgeon.2.) Operating Room Fees. 3.) Anesthesiologist Fees.Geographic issues will have the biggest impact on the variation in cost that you might find. Obviously at an office in Manhattan or Toronto you would expect much higher costs for everything. I see you are in Orlando. In an area like that which is typical of most medium to above average size cities across the country a well done facelift would be expected to be anywhere in the range of $10,000 - $15,000 or so.
As other answers have pointed out, there is no such thing as a fibrin glue facelift.Rather, fibrin "glue" (usually used as the brand name Artiss) is a medication used during facelifts to reduce bruising and swelling. It is a liquid that is applied under the skin near the very end of the procedure just before the final sutures are placed to close the incisions. The fibrin part of the solution helps to reduce oozing which in turn reduces bruising. That plus the adhesive quality of the Artiss solution also help to reduce swelling. The other key benefit that some surgeons do not realize is that the fibrin glue helps to support the skin and minimize tension on the incision lines which can be one more helpful thing to minimize scars. The next benefit is that by using Artiss there is no need to place drains under the skin which then have to be pulled out a few days later. Nobody likes that.I routinely use Artiss with my facelift patients and have been very happy with the added benefit. Cost for the fibrin glue material is only around $300 for the amount needed in a facelift, so overall that really does not have a big impact when you think of the potential benefits and the ability to not have to place drains.
[the attached link shows a few examples of how a facelift scar can be hidden with minimal visibility even very early in the healing process]A little trick that we all use is to call them "incision lines" since that sounds better than saying scar. However, there will always be a scar. ALWAYS.The key is to make these incision lines / scars look like faint little lines that blend into pre-existing wrinkles, folds, or hairlines. Creating a good facelift scare that is not noticeable is extremely important and there are many factors involved including incision planning, design, minimizing tension, and nuances of suture closure. There are additional things like laser treatments and scar creams that can be used after surgery to make the scars look even better, but the most important part is how the area is treated at the time of surgery. The tragus is the piece of cartilage at the front edge of the ear canal. Some surgeons have strong opinions on the proper way to design the incision in this area (in front of versus behind the tragus), but with good technique it really does not matter. I use both options and tailor the plan to the specific anatomy of each patient.I think 3 months is perfect in your case. Normally there is an early inflammatory stage of wound healing during the first 6 weeks or so. During that time the incisions can remain somewhat red and slightly thickened before starting to fade over time.
