Hi I recently went in for a kybella consultation and the doctor recommended that I try out the new AGNES machine which will help me with my double chin and define my jawline. Has anyone had experience with this machine and how effective is it compared to Kybella? Thanks!
Answer: Chin liposuction Dear SAM876,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Double chin treatment Thank you for the question. I think the answer depends on what is going on in your situation. In general, I do not think that AGNES would be a good treatment for augmentation fullness. It is probably better for skin tightening. On the other hand, kybella, coolsculpting, and liposuction help get rid of fat. We offer all three of the treatments and think that there are pros and cons of each. Kybella is my least favorite treatment. It works, but requires a minimum of 3-4 treatments and is associated with massive swelling and pain. The swelling lasts about a week after each treatment and the treatments are scheduled every 4-6 weeks.Coolsculpting is a great treatment that permanently reduces fat by about 20% with each treatment. Most people need about 2-3 treatments. Despite what another commenter mentioned, putting ice under your chin is not a good simulation of coolsculpting. It does not feel like that. There is minimal to no swelling.Liposuction removes fat cells. It is the gold standard and only requires one treatment. It does, however, most typically require anesthesia, but is still the treatment to which all other treatments compare themselves.

Answer: Agnes or Kybella? Double chin and jawline treatment Both Kybella or neck liposuction are good options and will improve the double chin. It depends on your lifestyle and personality which would be better for you. Kybella is best for patients that: 1) Do not want surgery 2) Are not surgical candidates 3) Not willing to wear a compression dressing around the face for 1 week 4) Patient- The results of Kybella will take months Kybella take 1-3 treatments every 6 weeks. Patient will develop swelling and possible bruising after each injection that may last a few days. The benefit of Kybella is each treatment is quick and completed in the office. However, some patients need more than one treatment to get desired results. Neck Liposuction is best for patients that: 1) Want a single treatment 2) One recovery time- Downtime for neck liposuction require wearing a wrap around face for 1 week. 3) Less painful 4) Quicker results 5) Cost is a concern Neck liposuction is a quick surgical procedure that can be complete while the patient is awake. It cost around the same price a Kybella and can be less in patients with heavier necks. The single recovery of neck liposuction may be a better option for some patients.

Answer: Chin Contouring with VASER, ThermiRF, Coolsculpting, Kybella, Thermage, Ultherapy, Exilis, Agnes Agnes is a micro-needle radiofrequency device that needs a combination approach with other treatments to improve a double chin. I find that VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF are best for contouring the chin in those who are candidates but Kybella or Agnes can be used as an alternative and gets better results when combined with thermage/ultherapy/exilis or coolsculpting. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Pictures would have been extremely helpful. Thanks for your question. Pictures would have been extremely helpful. I did 2 minutes of research on the "AGNES machine". It seems to be a desktop RF device. I doubt it is FDA approved for permanent submental fat destruction. We have discontinued Kybella treatments in our practice for melting submental fat. The FDA recently approved the SculpSure laser for treating submental fat (double chins). It is a quick 25 minute, completely non-invasive treatment. In the FDA study, the participants had 100% satisfaction after 1 or 2 treatments. In the Kybella FDA studies, there is high satisfaction after an average of 6 treatments. I did SculpSure recently and it was only mildly uncomfortable. I had no noticeable swelling. With Kybella, you will have noticeable swelling for 1-4 weeks. Best of luck!
