Great question! I do not recommend Kybella for patients who have loose neck skin, because dissolving the submental fat can make the loose skin worse. I would recommend PDO threads to help you get to your goal! There are threads that are “smooth,” which are placed to improve the thickness and integrity of the skin, such as in areas of crepey skin. Threads that have a “rougher” surface are pulled and smoothed to tighten and lift the area creating a refreshed and younger look. Both types of threads will be beneficial to help improve your neckline. The thread material is safe (it’s used for surgical sutures and considered one of the safest materials). Perhaps the most amazing thing about the threads is that they are absorbed into your body after 3-6 months but while disintegrating they stimulate your body to produce collagen in the areas in and around the insertion area. This is the manner in which crepey skin is smoothed and thickened. It’s FDA approved and the studied effects have shown to last anywhere from 6-18 months and sometimes longer. From your photos, it looks like you have a small amount of submental (under chin) fat that could be helped with Kybella. Kybella injections melt away fat permanently with deoxycholic acid. The healing process also contracts the skin slightly in the submental area. As for the neck bands, those are genetic and improve best with neuromodulators like Botox. I don’t really see any loose skin on your neck itself. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will let you have a more up-closed and personalized evaluation of your bands and skin quality so the perfect treatment plan can be devised for you.
Thank you for your question! PDO threads are very effective in treating this area. Thread lifts not only lift and tighten the skin, they also stimulate collagen production, improving the skin's texture. Schedule a consultation with an experienced injector for more information, or to discuss other treatment options.
Horizontal neck lines are typically cause by flexion. There are some cases where fat deposits along lines of flexion and can make these lines more pronounced. Treatment options include the use of filler (dilute Sculptra or HA product), RF needling, PDO threads (not barbed but to create more collage along the area of concern) and laser resurfacing. Since the lines are caused by a natural process of the neck patients can not expect complete elimination of horizontal lines. Best Dr. Shah
You have a few options. Try Botox to soften your platysmal bands and chemical peels to improve the quality of your skin and, one hopes, restore a bit of elasticity. A neck lift with platysmaplasty to tighten the underlying muscle will give you a rejuvenation that can last for up to 8 years or more. I recommend discussing your concerns at a consultation. I hope this helps.
These horizontal neck lines are difficult to eradicate. They improve with use of Botox and fillers. Kybella will not help in this case. If you only wanted to improve the fullness under the chin then Kybella would work well. RegardsDr. Janjua
Dear MiamiAngel305,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Hello, thanks for your question! For loose skin you do not want to do kybella. Kybella dissolves fat for double chin. If you already have loose skin the kybella will remove the fat and make skin appear more loose. I would recomend ultherapy, or skin tight procedure done with sciton bbl machine. Some places will inject the lines in the neck with filler to reduce the appearance. Hope this helps!
Kybella comes in a vial that can ultimately fill 2 (1 ml) syringes. The amount needed will vary. Keep in mind, Kybella results can take up to 6-8 weeks and usually require a series of treatments. Also, for best results with Kybella, I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, ex...
Hi natynatynaty, Thank you for your question! The lump, if caused by Kybella, will resolve on its own. Gentle massage can help smooth it out and can be repeated several times through out the day. Lots of times little "scar" nodules form in the treated area, they can take time...
Banana rolls can be taken care of with either. We have extensive experience with Kybella and liposuction and both work well. Although Kybella is approved for submental (under the chin) fat, it can be used on banana rolls. If the amount is large, then liposuction will be needed. An in-office e...
