Answer: Weight loss after Liposuction I always tell patients not to expect any weight loss after liposuction. Liposuction is a body contouring procedure and not a weight loss procedure. Sometimes a person's weight on the scale can even be higher in the early post-operative period because of fluid retention and swelling, a normal response to surgery. Even though 4.8 liters was removed, a good portion of the aspirate is fluid. Because of swelling, fluid retention, and constipation after surgery, the amount removed usually does not register on the scale. The scale should not be used to assess your results. Results are based on what your body contours look like, and how your existing clothing sizes look and fit. It takes a minimum of 6 weeks for the swelling to start to go down, and for patients to realize their new body contour. Some patients take 4-6 months for final edema and scar tissue to resolve. Everyone is different, and everyone heals at different rates. Results are very weight responsive; meaning, do your part and continue to follow a healthy diet and eventually incorporate exercise into your routine for the best results. Be patient and over time I am sure you will be pleased with your new silhouette.

Answer: Weight and Liposuction It may be counterintuitive, but you can weigh more after a liposuction than before. Often, the patient can fill with edema fluid (mostly water) in the areas of surgical treatment. Water weighs more than fat so the weight goes up.Stick to your habits of healthy eating and an active lifestyle and you should do great!
