I can't determine if my face structure is ideal for chin liposuction, a chin implant, or something else altogether. Is there a specific procedure or set of procedures that would result in a more defined jawline and less under chin fat for my face?
Answer: Anterior neck lift and chin implant Thank you for your inquiry and for sharing your photographs. The volume excess under your chin appears to be related to the digastric muscles and the lower part of the submandibular glands. These structures are more exposed below the jawline because the mandible (lower jaw) is relatively small. Addressing this issue would not be feasible with liposuction, as the fatty tissue under the skin is already relatively thin, and the volume you wish to reduce is not composed of superficial fat. A neck lift intervention can assist in reducing volume beneath the platysmal muscle. This procedure specifically targets the central deep-seated fatty tissue (which I suspect is minimal in your case), the digastric muscles, and the lower portion of the submandibular glands. To enhance the definition of the jawline and improve balance in both the profile and semi-profile views, a chin implant is likely to complement the improvements achieved by an anterior neck lift. This combination approach can provide a more harmonious and aesthetically pleasing outcome.

Answer: Liposuction is not the first choice. Hello, it doesnt look like you have a significant fat excess on your neck/chin. Your chin is back according to lips and nose, thats the main issue and the simple treatment for that is chin implant. There is also some more complex surgeries like jaw bone re-shaping but my first choice would be an implant if there is no problem with the teeth alignment. And the bulky tissue on your neck side looks like the submandibulary gland (saliva gland). That can be reduced with a deep neck lift surgery with an incision under your chin and that is the same incision with chin implant. So my recommendation would be a chin implant and deep neck lift from the same incision under the chin. If there is a fat excess diagnosed in the examination, liposuction can be added to procedure.

Answer: Chin Treatments Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin in Winnetka and Chicago. This is a great question. Determining the most suitable procedure for achieving a more defined jawline and reducing under-chin fat involves a careful evaluation of your facial anatomy and aesthetic goals. Each option—chin liposuction, chin implants, or other treatments—addresses different aspects of facial contouring, and choosing the right approach depends on your specific needs. 1. Chin Liposuction Chin liposuction is a popular choice for addressing localized fat under the chin, which can contribute to a less defined jawline. This procedure involves removing excess fat through small incisions, typically under the chin or behind the ears. Liposuction is effective for individuals who have good skin elasticity and mainly need to reduce fat deposits without significant structural changes to the chin. If your primary concern is excess fat rather than bone structure or skin sagging, liposuction may provide noticeable improvement and enhance the overall definition of your jawline. 2. Chin Implants Chin implants are used to enhance the projection and definition of the chin, improving overall facial balance and creating a more pronounced jawline. This procedure involves placing a biocompatible implant through a small incision, usually inside the mouth or under the chin. Chin implants are suitable for individuals who have a weak or receding chin and desire a more dramatic enhancement. If your issue is related to the underlying structure of your chin rather than just excess fat, an implant can offer significant aesthetic improvement. 3. Combination Approaches For many individuals, a combination of treatments may be the most effective approach. Combining chin liposuction with a chin implant can address both excess fat and structural deficiencies, providing a comprehensive solution for a more defined jawline. This combined approach can be especially beneficial if you have both significant fat accumulation and a less prominent chin. 4. Other Treatments Other non-surgical treatments, such as Kybella, can also be considered. Kybella is an injectable treatment that dissolves fat under the chin using deoxycholic acid. This can be a good option if you prefer a non-surgical approach to reduce fat without the need for liposuction. Additionally, ultrasound or radiofrequency treatments can help tighten the skin and improve contour, which can complement fat removal procedures. I hope this helps and best of luck!

Answer: Sliding genioplasty and liposuction In the photos, it appears that you have a recessed chin and some excess submental fat. I would like to improve your horizontal projection with a sliding genioplasty to maximize the amount of projection, and also perform jawline and submental liposuction. Both procedures together will give you the best result.

Answer: Yes! A chin implant with our without liposuction will be magical for you. Your face will look balanced, your chin less recessed, and your neck more defined. All of that is done in the office with local anesthesia (unless you request to be asleep) and takes about an hour. We can also likely do it all through the inside of your mouth so there is no visible scarring and no sutures to remove.
