Hello . I am 5ft 9 170lb. I have always had an issue with submental fat under neath chin . I have attached two photos . In the first one I pulled my chin back see double chin . I’m not sure if this is fat or loose skin . In the second photo , when move my chin up it is not that noticeable . Is chin lipo suction the only way to have a better jaw line ? I have tried Morpheus 8 and Cool sculpting . At first it does a great job but then it comes back again . Feels like due to genetics.
Answer: Anterior Neck Lift Thank you for your question regarding the volume under the chin and the potential benefits of surgical and non-surgical treatments. You are correct in suspecting that genetics often play a significant role in the development of this volume. Based on your description, my impression is that the majority of the volume in your case is located deep to the platysma muscles. This is evident when you bring your chin in, as you are recruiting these muscles and reducing the space available for the floor of the mouth. For addressing this concern, an anterior neck lift is a particularly effective surgical intervention. It works on two levels: 1. Reducing volume under the skin – This primarily involves the fatty tissue in the subcutaneous layer. 2. Addressing the deeper structures beneath the platysma – This includes reducing fatty tissue, refining the digastric muscles, and, where necessary, managing the lower portion of the submandibular glands. This dual-layer approach can provide significant contour improvements, not only in a neutral neck position but also in neck flexion or when pulling the chin in. Non-surgical treatments, such as injectable lipolysis or skin tightening technologies, may offer subtle improvements for surface-level concerns but are generally less effective for addressing deeper structures like the digastric muscles or submandibular glands. A tailored approach would depend on a thorough evaluation of your specific anatomy and goals.

Answer: Likely Need Something Invasive If you have tried noninvasive methods then it may be time to step up to an anergy device +/- liposuction. Many times the submental area is genetic and is related to either a chin that is set back too far, neck musculature, glands, or other issues. The best way to tell would be an in person physical exam by a physician that is very familiar with neck contouring procedures.

Answer: Chin Liposuction Chin Liposuction and Thermitight Chin liposuction helps reduce the bulge under the chin and can be done for the whole neck. Once the fat is removed the skin can become loose and saggy in some cases. It can be avoided by combining it with Thermitight which is a radiofrequency heat delivered under the skin to tighten it. Both chin liposuction and Thermitight can be done at the same time. The recovery is fast and it can be done under local anesthesia. Click on the video link below Regards Dr. J

Answer: Submental chin fat, is chin liposuction the best treatment Much more information is needed, such as a full set of facial photographs from all angles, in addition to your height, weight, and age to make the proper decision on the most appropriate procedure for you. The one very limited photograph, it appears that you have fat deposits located both above and below the platysma muscle in your neck. Liposuction can only remove the fat deposits above the muscle, while a neck lift procedure is performed to remove the fat deposits below the muscle, which also includes a platysma – plasty to significantly improve the jawline. Liposuction alone will only be minimally effective.
