Answer: Scar Cream Thank you for your question. I recommend my patients start using scar cream when their steri-strips come off or are removed. Sometimes patients use aquaphor or vaseline for a couple of days after steri-strips come off to get rid of any scabs/dry blood that may remain. Once that process is complete, I recommend applying Silagen to the scar once in the morning and once in the evening for up to 6 months.

Answer: Surgeon preference This is definitely a question to ask your surgeon as we all have different preferences. I recommend patients begin treating their scar once surgical tapes have come off and all incisions are completely sealed which is usually around the 3-4 week mark. However, please follow your surgeon's recommendations. Good luck with your upcoming surgery!
