Dear patient, Edema, swelling and deep bruising can take up to 6 months to resolve. Having said that your doctor can examine you and determine if the lumpiness is because of remaining fat pockets that did not respond or skin that is still shrinking or even the rare accumulation of fluid (seroma). I would recommend that you discuss this with your surgeon and consider lymphatic drainage, gentle Ultrasound and massage, over even a short course of anti-inflammatory medication such as Prednisone to help the healing process.
Everyone responds to Smart Lipo differently- some can take 6-12 months for temporary lumps to go away.Close follow up with your plastic surgeon is recommended during this time for instructions.
Some lumps take up to six months or even longer to resolve after lipo. If you still have issues at that time, see your surgeon for a re-evaluation.
Liposuction shouldnt have lumps or bumps and you should be doing RF treatments and cellutone to limit compolications. It sounds like you may need a revision procedure. Please see an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.
Without pictures it is hard to know what your definition of "lumpy" is, it could be pockets of fluid that remain trapped, and could be amenable to lymphatic massages or possibly other modalities. It could be scar tissue that would be harder to treat with non invasive or it could pockets of fat that were left. Having said that, it takes about about 8-9 months to reach the final end point.
Lumps at this point usually represent deep bruising that is still healing. They are usually still a little sore to touch. I do follow up at 3 and 6 months to address these issues. They should eventually go away.
I would suggest letting your surgeon check you for excessive swelling or residual fat. At this point, you should not really be having lumps.
Swelling can last for up to 6 months, but typically is improving weekly.Exercise and smooth compression will help.Best. Dr BrechtSeattle, Wa
If you had more fat and the surgeon was quite aggressive, you will be more likely to develop some lumps which is fat necrosis and induration. Massaging the area will help. Most of the lump will go away by 6 months but in a few cases, i have seen it take as long as one year. they are rarely visible, you can just feel them.david berman md
Thanks for the question. Based on your photos, tummy tuck is a better option than smart lipo. I recommend you to contact a Board Certified Surgeon for consultation. I wish you all the best.
You will first need to heal from your gallbladder surgery before considering any elective surgery. Once healed, then consider meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon who can tell you what you can reasonable expect with liposuction.
