Is it necessary to continue packing the belly button 2 months post tummy tuck (skin removal only)? (photo)

My belly button looks great and I've been healing nicely (I am a vegan and active) but do not want to stop packing if the belly button will shrink. The issue though is that anything I pack it with, falls out unless I'm strapped in a waist cincher that I NO LONGER wish to wear (boning hurts gives serious thigh pain when sitting). My PS saw pic and said I could stop packing but he was not confident (wavered back and forth). The photo was taken at only 4 weeks post op (today I am 8 weeks post op).
