I had a 360 belt lipectomy on Dec 27th. The Dr put in external stitches along right hip to hold better because he said I was pulled tight there. He removed them 10 days post op and it reopened in office. He held pressure and bandaged me. He didn't want sterile strip on because wanting it to drain. Told me to keep bandage on and it would stay wet with fluid. Leave it on to shower then change after I shower. I go back in 5 days.

Answer: Post operative wound Thank you for your question. I would avoid putting steri strips on the wound at this time and would advise you to follow your plastic surgeon's instructions for wound care. I would typically have a patient treat this type of a wound with saline wet to dry dressings once to twice daily to encourage ingrowth of healthy tissue and allow the open wound to heal from the inside out. Once the wound is well healed (perhaps 3-6 months following a 'skinning over' of the wound,) the area can be revised to improve the cosmetic appearance of your scar. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Open wound With a body lift, this is not unexpected. the wound looks fine at this point. I would not want you to put a steri strip on this. you will need to do home wound care to help this heal. i would have my patients clean this once a day in the shower with an over the counter soap called "hibiclens" (pink liquid in a blue bottle). cover this with a non stick dressing and cover that with an absorbent pad. see your BCPS once a week for evaluation and any questions. it may take 1-2 months to heal.
