I had a lip augmentation 3 days ago. The plastic surgeon suggested we put more product on the upper lip and less on the lower lip. I agreed with that because my upper lip was small. Now the third day after the augmentation my lips look like duck lips, like swoollen, like the product has gone beyond the lip line. What can i do to reverse the effect or to correct it? Shoud we put some Hyalouronic acid in the area between the nostrill and the upper lip line to minimaze the effect?
Answer: Duck lips...What can I do to reverse the effect? Thank you for sharing your question and photographs, and I am sorry that your current results have not been what you anticipated.. Due to the thin nature of lip tissues they have a tendency towards swelling after dermal filler placement. You will see that your results will improve over the next 2 weeks as they soften and become more natural. Hang in there and allow your results time to mature. Hope this helps.

Answer: Lip Augmentation Hi @AnastasiaL! A few days of swelling after a lip augmentation is normal. If you are not happy with the results after two weeks, I recommend dissolving the product with Hylenex if a Hyaluronic Acid dermal filler was used. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

Answer: Lip Swelling Common After Fillers, So Hold On The Hyaluronidase After the injection of fillers for nonsurgical lip augmentation, swelling of the lips is not uncommon. When it occurs, it often takes about a week--sometimes even two weeks or so to go down. So, don't panbic. Should the duck lip (aka trout pout) look persist after that time, it can be quite easily and quickly treated with hyaluronidase to dissolve the hyaluronic acid fillers--which hopefully were used in this case. Hylenex and Vitrase are the two forms of hyaluronidase currently available in the States. Treatment is very quick and over in literally about thirty seconds in experienced hands. The results are typically seen within the first few minutes up to a half an hour or so with occasional additional improvement seen over the next three days. Treatment may also be repeated a few days later, should further reduction be needed. Make sure you have been consulting with a board certified physician with experience and expertise in nonsurgical lip augmentation with fillers. And don't hesitate to ask to see his/her before and after photos before proceeding. Have a great remainder of the holiday weekend and best of luck.

Answer: Results Hello, Thank you for your question. You may want to wait a week or two before you decide to do anything. What your seeing may just be swelling. However if the swelling doesn't go down, there is a product called Vitrase that your doctor should be able to inject, and it will shrink the filler. Good luck!
